Wyoming: Anti-Hazing Bill in State Legislature

This should be of interest to fraternities and sororities with chapters in Wyoming, Wyoming chapter advisers, and anyone interested in anti-hazing legislation.

The bill now making its way through the Wyoming legislature is House Bill 54. Reportedly there would be at least two classes of hazing -- the more serious (resulting in serious injury or death) being a felony. The news report gives an overview of the bill and names its sponsors:

Great.

More and more States are signing up for this type of Legislation and who does it hurt, US!

Well, I guess it is because of stupidity of people who want to be big in front of people who they have control over!

Wow.. now that's lazy. The only State Senator they could find to comment wasn't there. When in the history of the United States has a state legislator ever been unavailable for comment to the media (excepting scandal related news)?

Funny because this was one of the more sane pieces of hazing legislation I have seen. Instead of making it all a felony, it split it out in rational terms.

If hazing laws are going to be a legal reality in this country (if a repetitive one), then this is the kind of approach I would prefer.

It was a good mix of sating human appetites combined with a realistic and fairly balanced legal approach. More than necessary, yes. But far more sensible than the kinds of hazing laws triumphed as a victory in Lifetime channel movies...

Now, I just wonder how this will affect other Legislative Laws with reference to GLOs?

If States follow some of the more staunch State Laws, it may hurt all of us who do not follow the rules.

I guess time will tell wont it?
