Semi Formal

Hey all. I am social co-chair for a chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma. I am trying to come up with ideas for a semi formal for Fall semester. Any ideas? I am trying to do something fun and original. For Spring formal, we did "A Night of Glamour" and did the whole Hollywood thing. We are trying to do something without alcohol and on a budget. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thank you!

What about a Masquerade Ball? I always loved those masks and you could decorate with green, gold, and purple. A riverboat or cruise might be fun, but that might be hard since you are on a budget. A "night under the stars" could be another theme. I don't know if this is cheesy, but I've seen lots of pirate stuff since Pirates of the Caribbean came out--Cast Away with Sigma, Sigma Cove, Sigma Paradise Island, etc, etc..

*bumping* (hopefully to get more responses)

And... we have a lot of girls that are either married, engaged, or in serious relationships. So, I really wanted to do like a mytie or crush party, but I don't think that would work out well.

what about something sort of dance-themed, like salsa nights or something to do with swing or waltzing or whatever... not all the girls necessarily have to know how to dance, but it might be fun for a more original idea...
i'm planning this semester's mocktail (dry semi-formal) so i'm in much the same boat

That mocktail sounds like a good idea. Would you mind telling me more?
