Miss America Can't Get A Date...

1921 Miss America Contestants
With only a few months to go, the Miss America Pagent does not have a television contract.
ABC's ratings hit a new low last year.
TV revenues pay for the majority of the organizations budget.
The question is, how many really care"

It's main problem is it doesn't have the TRUMP name to make sure it never fails...

I can't say I'm surprised this has happened - the Miss America Organization has really shot itself in the foot several times over the last few years.
One thing that isn't helping is the night on which the telecast is shown - they want to attract young people to the program so they show it on SATURDAY NIGHT??? This was one of the things that just didn't make sense to me when I was involved in the MAO. Broadcasting finals on, say, Sunday night would help a lot.
I've heard suggestions for changing the telecast from a one-night pageant to an Apprentice-style reality series. I don't know if that would help, but at this point it couldn't hurt.

Donald Trump is a fraud. If you borrow 2 billion dollars, you are not a billionare. Trump Hotels and Casinos are bankrupt again. Wow what a success.

Funny, the name still sells, and that's ultimately the bottom line.

The real bottom line is whether they get a TV contract. Otherwise, they have lost three quarters or so of their budget according to what I read.

I'll bet it goes to a cable network like PAX, or something.

Obviously the name only sells an overrated TV show, because some of his other businesses are performing pretty poorly . . . remember, this guy almost pissed away everything he was given decades ago once before.

Not sure that will help. Those networks -- with the exception of the ESPN's can't afford to spend big money on rights fees for big events.
In reality, the only reason ESPN can is that they package rights with ABC -- and then up their per subscriber fees to cable systems.
Methinks they may be in deep doo-doo.
That's a highly technical broadcasting term.

Oh, I know it won't help. In fact, if it does go to PAX, et. al., that will be the death knell for the pageant.

I just read this in an article:
The pageant date has not been finalized, but a contract signed Monday with Country Music Television schedules the event for January 2006.

I like these pageants and I hate that no network station picked it up (not knocking CMT).
Shoot, I just found out last week that 2005 is the last year of the Miss Teen USA pageant.

The guy's name is all over every venture he's in. If his casino and hotel are bankrupt again, it's probably a good guess that the name really isn't selling.
That's the bottom line. Although RC beat me to it.
