Scholarship Question?
Greetings to the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc!!!
I am a recent High School Graduate and fond admirer/interest in BGLOs. This year in my quest to secure funds for my college education I applied to the scholarships of 4 grad chapters of frats here in my home of Chicago, IL. I have already recieved one of those scholarships and there is a good chance I will recieve the another. My question is that when I am ready to persue my organization of choice will I be looked down upon for being a scholar of another fraternity? All the scholarships have a clause that states if I where to pledge a different fraternity then I would no longer be eligible to renew the scholarship. But would frat members see it as disrespectful after all I'm jus trying to pay for my education. :-)
All comments are welcomed and feel free to email me..I Have been watching these boards for some time now so I know I will recieve a intelligent and through answer from someone.
Peace and Love

Good to see a young man taking his academics and our second Cardinal Principle so seriously. If you chose another fraternity, I am sure that the chapter doling out the money would not be too happy about subsidizing someone who did not think enough of their org to join it. There is nothing wrong with receiving financial assistance from other orgs prior to, but afterwards is a different story. However, there are some general scholarships aavailable to outstanding students regardless of affiliation, based strictly on achievement in a specific field. I know that some of our E.E. Just Science Scholars have had membership in other orgs. Peace and keep striving.

i Just wanted to send a special thank you out to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity as a whole and to the Sigma Omega Graduate Chapter for awarding me a book scholarship. I attended the banquet last night and was throughly impressed. I hope that one day I will be able to give back to my community as you have already done.
Once again Thank You!!
Peace and Love

Congratulations young scholar!!! I remember graduating from high school back in 1987 and receiving a scholarship from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Epsilon Kappa Chapter. That $500 helped me big time!
Keep up the excellent work!

Good luck in your studies. Your story has touched me. i agree with Doggy, but remember people only know your business if you tell them. Also remember study first then party! Where will you be going to school?
