D9 question.
Hey when you are out and you see another member of the D9 that's not in your fraternity/sorority, do you acknowledge them and have a conversation? Normally I do, but when I did recently to this guy in XYZ fraternity, he looked at me like . I walked away, and said to myself "Wow, I wonder what that was about." Oh well.

Last week I was in Burlington Coat Factory and noticed my cashier wearing a Zeta Phi Beta t-shirt so I said, "Oh you're a Zeta" with a smile. I then told her I was a Delta. Her response? "Oh."
WOW.

I like to pick on people anyway so I have no problem picking on someone from another D9. I usually try not to choose someone too young because they are probably still in the stage of taking themselves and their organization waaaayyyy too seriously.
I can see the issue from both sides though. I understand showing Greek Love and being playful but some people just don't have it in them and act like it's a crime. I know a Bruh who acted like it was gay for this Alpha to pick on him for having on the "wrong 'nalia." Like dude was trying to pick him up. Self-importance.

LOL, perhaps the boss doesn't care what they wear on Saturdays? I was confused by that as well. It was a black shirt and what caught my eye was the crest. If I was just a random person without any Greek experience, I would have ignored it or asked what's "Zeeeeta Phi Beeeta."

About 7 or 8 years ago I worked at a data processing center with no dress code and we sat in cubicles all day unless we were walking around the building (i.e. going to the employee cafeteria). I wore my line shirt one day and another 'nalia tshirt another day. I discovered a lot of Sorors and other D9 members working there b/c they of course noticed me. But for the most part I got a lot of unnecessary attention and curious stares because I was...uh...wearing letters to work...for no damn reason.
What the hell was I thinking? The nonline shirt even had some cheesy "living the dream in crimson and cream" caption.
Whew.

Ques used to do that to me ALL the time!
Actually, not just Ques. But it feels like it.
Anyway, I always try to make a point to acknowledge other Greeks in public, even if it's just an "I see you, Greek!" as I'm walking by.
But I've had various responses.....this lady with a Delta bag was on the Metro looking like she was having the worst day in the world. So I just said "Smile -- you're a Delta!" and kept walking, and she was so tickled.
But then one of the guys I went to school with became a Kappa, and I made a joking remark like "I'll forgive you" and he got soooooo salty and said "We're all Greek together!"
And I was like....d'uh..... lol

You know what? I make conversations with everybody...... I saw these black ladies who were members of the Red Hats (I could tell by the red hats and purple suits) and I was like "I see you, Red Hat Society!"
I'm weird like that.

The theme for Convention 2008. Reminiscent of "don't worry be happy."

LOL. That's cute. I would've never guessed the name of that society. I mean, it's obvious but still.

if she's cute, i'll probably say something.
but it usually has nothing to do with anything greek related after the first few sentences.

Yeah it quickly moves to "can you do my math homework for me, starang?"

Coincidentally or not, I don't pick on Kappas. There's always something "don't speak to me, bitch" about them when I come across them.

I usually speak to men in fraternities when I cross thier paths but I've found women tend to have some salt about them for some reason..even if I don't tease them, its a kinda "why are you acknowledging me" attitude.. I usually just give it the "whateva heffa" look and KIM....so much for unity I guess...
slight hijack....have you ever spoken to a member of your own org and they were less then cordial....end slight hijack
