The Torch
I was just going through the new Torch and was reading the bit about convention. I wasn't able to attend the Friday evening events while I was there, as I had another commitment for a bday party in DC. Imagine my shock to find that we initiated TWO alumnae initiates -- Christina Manley (I'm assuming a sister of Margeaux Manley?) and Becky Zonies. Who knew?!?!

Wow. I haven't gotten my Torch, I need to check the mail I guess, but was there a reason given for the AIing?

I saw that too. The first thing I thought to myself was I didn't know that we did AI... Was this a special thing because of who they are? Or can other people try to AI Sigma Delta Tau?

Who is Margaux, can I ask?
And I thought that SDT didn't do AI unless it was a member of an absorbed local...does this mean they are slowly starting to do AI if there are other reasons behind it?

Thanks sigdelttaugirl... now I'm extra disappointed that I missed it!!
I think we have always had AI as an option when the initiate is selected by the National Board on a case-by-case basis.
I do not think anyone can actively pursue SDT AI as an option. SDT does the choosing, not the other way around.
I could be mistaken...

No, the only way SDT does AI is members of an absorbed local, I know I asked about it (well my chapter did) when I was an active.

Well, I could be mistaken on my understanding of it, but obviously absorbed local isn't the only case, either.
I'll have to ask someone about it next time I talk to the office... very mysterious!
