XO helps out KKG
Hey there--
I just wanted to let you all know that a Chi O alumna in California was at a small antique show last weekend, and came across a pin that she recognized as a KKG badge, and she thought that it looked particularly old and special.
Knowing how important her own badge is to her, and thinking that this "old looking" KKG badge might have some importance, she asked the pin's seller to put it on hold for her. She also wrote down a description of the badge, and the engravings that appeared on the back of the badge.
That night, she went home and called KKG Headquarters, and told them about the pin she had found . . . it turns out it is the pin of one of the founders of the Sigma chapter of KKG. It is an emerald encrusted badge from 1885.
Long story short . . .this wonderful XO returned to the antique show the next day and negotiated a price of $167.50 for the pin . . . and promptly sent the pin off to KKG HQ to be placed in our Museum (KKG HQ reimbursed her, of course). (Note that other pins from this era have gone for upwards of $1,000!)
All I can say is I AM SO PROUD OF XO! What a wonderful thing this woman did. She really went out of her way to do a wonderful thing for KKG. I am also so proud to be a part of the Greek family . . . the calibre of some of our NPC members never ceases to amaze me.
Just thought you'd like to hear that story!
