Exclamation Sigma badges on eBay...

There are currently three Sigma badges on eBay. Does Sigma have a program that will reimburse women who purchase badges and return them to H/Q?

Tri Sigma's HQ discourages members from buying badges off of ebay, but if you inforrm them of the sales, they will contact the seller and request that the sale be ended, I have forgotten the specific form, but there is one.

If you choose to puchase a badge off of ebay and donate to HQ that is great, but they will not reimburse you the price.

This was the policy a few years ago, I highly doubt it has been changed.

Why would H/Q discourage another member from purchasing our badge? Whether we donate it back or not, it seems like they would look favorably on such behavior. Why would we want some rando purchasing our badges?

Read my post again....

You are more than welcome to purchase and donate, but not a reimbursement.

They look unfavorably on the practice, b/c then it would encourage more people to sell something that is very sacred to all Tri Sigmas out there....

Believe me, I have seen a few that I would love to give back the HQ for historical purposes, esp the opal surround badges, until they deem it necessary to have a rescue group like GPhiB or Kappas (which I don't believe they reimburse, but I could be wrong), donations are perfectally ok, just not reimbursement.

No, I understand your post completely. I just think that HQ would be supportive of people rescuing badges rather than discouraging the practice because they are sacred to us. Whether someone profits off of it, it shouldn't matter, all that matters is that we recover them. At least that's how I view it.

How would one approach Nationals for establishing a program like Kappa's and Gamma Phi's? I believe that several Nationals do reimburse for rescued badges.

I think Sigma more views it as the more these badges are purchased the more will be sold. The old law of supply and demand. If there is no demand (or people willing to pay for them) then the supply will stop showing up. Just my take from what I have seen over the years.

I used to send in an email to nationals several times a month over badges being for sale on Ebay. It was even to the point I kept the number for EO on my cell phone. Sadly I found that out of the maybe 20 badges I sent info on to nationals only 1 or 2 were pulled off sale, the rest were just sold before sigma could do anything.
