OTW?!?
Hi there--I have heard on the news there was a bad earthquake in Hawaii (don't know the specifics). Hope that you and HawaiiAGD and everyone else for that matter are OK!!

Hey Rachel!
A 6.6 woke us up a little after 7am this morning and 2 more strong ones followed. We lost power at about 7:30 and was restored at about 4:30 HST. We had the radio on all day, but we thought it was only a 6.3...I didn't know until I logged online that it was a 6.6! The neighbor islands were able to get power back on faster because they're less populated than we are.
There's some damage to my house but nothing serious that jeopardizes our safety.
I hear that power is slowly being restored to the rest of the island -- some parts in Downtown Honolulu already have it, but East Honolulu's still in the dark, (and that's where UH-Manoa and hawaiiagd and her family reside).
Phone lines were jammed all day so I haven't been able to get in touch with any of the sisters...even via text messaging.
The Big Island had the most damage, and if anything everyone on Oahu's just inconvenienced by this darn power outage. But what can you do, right? I have faith that all the AGDs on Oahu are safe...they're probably in the dark, but they're safe.
Prayers to our sisters and the residents living on the Big Island, especially in the Kona District.
Now if only we could get this rain to stop! Mother Nature hates us today!

Oh good! I remember when we had the Nisqually Quake here a few years back and it was much like you described--phone lines and cell lines jammed. I was on the phone with a loan agent helping my FIL sort through some things and all of a sudden stuff started smashing off the walls. My husband had that California breeding in him and went directly for the door jam.
So glad it sounds like no fatalities or anything, but hoping that all communities are safe and there are no more problems and the rain stops!

I've been out of the news loop for the weekend, so the first thing I heard this morning was about the EQ and I thought of you, Sandy. Glad that all seems well, if not dark.
Prayers to all who are in the land of sunshine and rainbows!

Sorry for crashing but glad you're ok Sandy. I've got people out on the big island, Maui and Kauai. They are all ok too.

Thanks again all.
It's Tuesday, but we're still getting aftershocks here and there. I think once you experience a 6.7, anything less than that is nothing.
I'm pleased to report that our own hawaiiagd even held a Stampin' Up party at a sister's house the day of the earthquake/power outage! Her area was one of the last to get power restored, but she, her husband, and her daughter are all fine!
It's heartbreaking to see the damage on the Big Island, but everyone's just happy that there was no loss of life!
