What Makes Your Organization Unique

I decided to take it upon myself to get some activity on this board. I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta and I know a little bit about your organization.

But I want to know what makes Iota special to YOU? NOT why you decided to join and who cares what anybody else thinks what is it that keeps Iota in YOUR heart?

IOTA HAS BEEN AND STILL IS MY MOTIVATION. I STRIVE TO LIVE UP TO THE TRUE MEANING OF THOSE FIVE GOLD SYMBOLIC STARS OF IOTA PHI THETA. THRU THE IOTA (PLEDGING)EXPERIENCE I LEARNED THAT THE ETERNAL SEARCH FOR EXCELLENCE BUILDS CHARACTER AND PREPARED ME TO BE ABLE TO CONQUER THE ROADBLOCKS AND OBSTICLES IN LIFE. IOTA HAS PREPARED ME TO LOOK INTO THE FACE OF THE UNKNOWN CHALLENGES AHEAD IN MY LIFE AND SAY "BRING IT ON". MORE IMPORTANTLY, IOTA PHI THETA TAUGHT ME WHAT THE FOUNDING FATHERS KNEW, HOW TO LIVE RIGHT AND THE TRUE MEANING OF BROTHERHOOD.

Those beautiful five stars. Their meaning is something that I hold dear to my heart and is something that constantly motivates me even during my toughest times. When im in my room and not really feeling motivated, i think about what i went through to earn those letters and realize that i have to keep going.
Also the brotherhood that i see from Iota shows no equal, I know countless brothers who would travel the distance and make the sacrifice in order to help me and my brothers in the name of Iota.

I am showing Sigma love to the men of IPhiT, but I was wondering where are all the Iota's are? Only two responses to this question? As the newest member of NPHC, I thought for sure you Iota's had much more to say about Iota Love. Let's open this topic back up. I am just interested. Maybe suntzu1963 you can start this off. Or anyone.

Suntzu1963, I checked out your response in the "why did you chose Iota forum". Regarding responses, did you know you can search frat by affiliation at blackvoices.com? Maybe you can put your frat down on greekchat. Also, alot of your frat has emails posted on their chapter website. Also, alot of your frat are on blackplanet.com. Your frat at http://members.blackplanet.com/scarface_1spr00 is all over the planet and all over me and my sorors blackplanet pages. He has alot of frats links on his page too. Just trying to step up the participation. EE-YIP.

I feel like my response lies within this response to why I chose Iota. If you or anyone else has a question about my response, I will try to clarify or elaborate on what I said so that you know how much love I have for Iota.

I will try to get more frat up on this soon. The problem is that, contrary to popular belief *smile* (I know some peeps think I live on greekchat lol), I don't have the time to encourage particpation here right now. I have a couple of other places I moderate, but I realize that this is a good place to put my frat up on.

With peeps like you around (mpsgr22), I better get frat up on this b/c you are a wonderful person. You have shown my frat and myself nothing but love. GOD bless you and when I get a chance, the OUTLAWS will be ridin' through here! Are you ready for the revolution? *smile*

What can I say about this organization????
Iota is special to me for many reasons. The most important, though, has to be the individuality of its members. Taking a quote from an older bro, (if you were "made" you know what Im sayin) I think he says it best: "Each man, though one among many men, is still very much himself with or without Iota. The concept of a fraternity, especially a black fraternity cannot be reconciled without careful consideration of this creed. The struggle must go on, and organizations must realize the role they play in unifying and teaching" circa 1967.
That statement says alot, and it is the heart and soul of my Iota spirit. Though we may not be as old as the other NPHC orgs., I am proud of the accomplishments this fraternity has made in its 38 year existence. Greatness speaks for itself, and Iota screams it in the 21st century.

I COULDNT SPEAK ENOUGH.. Good question sista,

For me IOTA represents a house that is still being built, and because of that I am able to participate in that process. Not to take away from any of the other frats, but to me, I see their houses & foundation as already built, and except for doing something TREMENDOUS, the oportunity for me to add to the national history of that organization is far less than that of IOTA PHI THETA FRAT., INC. Everyday that I put in work for this frat, is another day for potentially adding to IOTA's *** NATIONAL *** History, and what better reward than to see your name in the same achives as the GREAT Founder's of such a GREAT fraternity. **Smiles**
