Summer in Dallas...well it is hotter than hell here, of course! My son is playing baseball and my daughter is playing softball so we're outside quite a bit. Can't wait for hockey to start back up.

Going to Convention in less than a month! I'm dieting so I can fit back into my formal and my whites. My alumnae chapter will be receiving our baby cup since we are only 1 1/2 years old.

Work is slow which is nice since the kids are at home. I work part time so I can set my own hours.

No vacation plans but both kids are going away to camps during the same week so that is a vacation in itself.

Hope everyone else is having a nice summer, too.

Let's see...it certainly is great to have summer here!!

I'm teaching till the 28th. Public School goes LATE here in NYC. But lots of fun stuff planned at work & outside of work btwn now and then. I've had a super group of pre-schoolers this year & will miss them VERY MUCH.

Heading out to Michigan once school is out to spend some time with my boyfriend's family. This will be our second visit out there so I'm less nervous than before, so hopefully I will enjoy myself more.

Going to Florida to see my family in mid-July. My sister will be getting ready to be a frosh at Baylor so it will be a great visit I'm sure. Trying to get the bf down for a long weekend too so he can meet my family.

August sneaks up on teachers SO fast. I have a week planned in a beach town near Atlantic City with some Kappa Iota sisters & our friends. Then a good two weeks to 'vacation' here in NYC & get ready for the new school year. We have a new contract so will be back for staff meetings before Labor Day this year which is a big change for us!

It's so great hearing what radioZTA and ZTAMich are up to! I can't believe I started this thread and didn't say what I am doing.

Anyway, I am enjoying summer -- that's one of the best reasons to be an elementary teacher! So far, I haven't even been out of school for a full week, but I am already enjoying being able to sleep in. The alarm doesn't go off until 6:30 a.m. now instead of 4:30.

The only downside to summer so far is that I am working like a dog to finish a video course before the deadline. Last summer, I took 15 hours of graduate courses and the video course did not get finished. Anyway, the good news is once it is done and mailed in, I will be done with my coursework! My goal is to finish it by Friday; so far I have typed 44 pages in two days -- I think I am well on my way!

I hope all my Zeta sisters are having a great summer and let us know what they are doing!

ZL, Courtney

Our summer should be packed with fun stuff now that Tiernan is walking (sort of) and babbling and LOVES the pool! My hotel just bought out a competitor so we're in the final stages of the acquisition. As if it isn't hot enough around here in the summer, we're all running around like chickens with our heads cut off making sure all of the guests are taken care of and aware of our new policies. Before I know it I'll be planning Tiernan's first birthday party (August 8th) and we'll be celebrating like crazy!

I just got back from a 7 day "Canyonlands Tour" with Tauck Tours. It wonderful... but I need a vacation from my vacation! They packed so much into a week. I can't believe how much we did.

We went to Sedona and took a jeep tour, saw Montezuma's castle, Grand Canyon, took a mule ride down Bryce Canyon, saw Antelope Canyon and Zion Park, Las Vegas, a boat ride on Lake Powell, a raft ride, and took a Cessna to Monument Valley.

The weather was perfect every day.

Not sure yet what else I'm going to do this summer. Our pool is open (yeah!) and I'm going to go back to horseback riding now that the weather is nice.

Did you get to Oak Creek Canyon? You can 'waterslide' down the creek there and there's an apple orchard in the park that sells cider - very yummy!

I just got back (along with DS) from 8+ days in Milwaukee. Visited with family, attended the Bead & Button Show and took classes. Our flight back yesterday was 2 hours late leaving Atlanta, so it was a looooong freakin' day. Have 200+ work emails to wade through, too.

I'm like BlueAngel - I need a vacation from my vacation.

Wow - it sounds like everyone is having an adventure-packed summer.

As for me, I have some good news and some bad news. First the good news, I did finish that video course I wrote about earlier. In fact, I finished it ahead of my personal deadline and mailed it off last Thursday! Yeah

Now the bad news. The next day I woke up with a terrible toothache. Turns out I have an abcessed tooth and I need to have a root canal. Oh well, now that I am on antibiotics and steroids (for the inflammation), it is not nearly as painful. Just have to wait until next Tuesday to have the root canal done.

After that, summer is bound to be great. I am looking really hard for the silver lining

Hey Barbara! I was wondering where you've been!

No, we only had a few hours in Sedona. I really loved it there, and wished we had more time. We did a "brief" jeep tour. Just in that one day, we started in Scottsdale, went to Montezuma's Castle, then Sedona, and on to Grand Canyon. Whew!

Sounds like you had a busy vacation too. Are you going to post some pic's of some of the new beads you learned how to make?

Didn't do too many beads - but yes, I'll post some pics as soon as I have them downloaded from my camera..which is still sitting in a suitcase upstairs. I need a YAWN emoticon, lol.

just got back from heiping the in-laws celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in oklahoma. their actual anniversary was in december, but the celebration could not happen until last saturday. it was a great party, and we were able to spend some time at my sister in laws lake house before the party-the kids learned to wakeboard.

Update...I've lost 15 pounds so the diet is going well. We are going on vacation after all. I'm flying straight from Convention in Houston to Denver to join my family.

And I'm just getting over what the doctor thinks is CHICKEN POX! I had them when I was 2 but the doctor can't figure out what else it could be. He had 2 other doctors look at me and I tested positive for a virus. I'm tired, itchy and splotchy. Ugh! Hope my skin clears up before I go to Convention. I'm going to take a benadryl and go back to bed.

SO I have a bit of an update!!!

I GOT ENGAGED SATURDAY! We were in Michigan at his family's house, it was so perfect. July & August have just turned into early wedding planning months instead of just summer relaxing!
