Smile Aids/hiv

Though I have been lurking around GC for about 2 years, I have finally decided to come out of the woodwork and introduce myself.

I am actually posting because I am working with an organization at my school and would like to contact any groups or organizations that deal with people living with AIDS in the New York City area.

Knowing that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was a service organization, I decided to post here in hopes of finding more names of any organizations or important contacts.

I have already contacted the Gay Men's Health Crisis, AIDS Walk NY, and the AIDS Theatre Project.

P.S. Please read my poem in my signature and tell me what you think!

I know two organizations that may fit what you're looking for, both are in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn AIDS Taskforce
Go to www.batf.net for contact info.

Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation - http://www.hivlegalnyc.org/brooklna.html
Here is a brief description of what they do:
Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A ("Brooklyn A") has been providing free civil legal services to communities in North, East and Central Brooklyn since 1967. In addition to legal services for people living with HIV/AIDS, we also provide a wide range of legal services to income-eligible residents of the communities served by Brooklyn A: landlord-tenant and other housing matters; social security, welfare, food stamps, medicaid and "workfare" matters; elder law; family law and family preservation; immigration issues and family law issues for victims of domestic violence; community economic development; and housing preservation.
I know one of the contact people there is Martin Needleman, but I can't remember what his title is.

Hope this helps!

P.S. I loved the poem.

Cool TTT

Please support my Chapter in Seattle for the 20th Anniversary of the AIDSWalk...

I cannot believe it has been that long that we all have been fighting this disease...

And since ~60% of new HIV/AIDS cases will be from African American women in the United States, we MUST do something to stave this heinious disease off...

Regardless of how HIV is transmitted, folks need help...

So please support us in some way!

Join or Support to eradicate HIV/AIDS!!!
