Pairs
I was talking to some of my sisters at lunch the other day and we realized that every sorority on our campus is kind of paired up with a fraternity (they spend a lot of time with each other, mainly date people from that organization, and are generally very close with them). I was wondering if it is like this on other college campuses, and what sororities and fraternities are a pair.

At Sam:
Chi Omega + Sigma Phi Epsilon/Sigma Tau Gamma
Alpha Delta Pi + Sigma Chi/Theta Chi
Alpha Chi Omega + Theta Chi/Delta Tau Delta
I don't know who Zetas mingle with....

We really don't have a "sister sorority" so to speak but usually what happens here is that the sorority that wins derby days in the fall, we do homecoming with in the spring. Last year it was ZTA and this year its Alpha Chi Omega.

At my school, the pairs are
ChiO w/ PIKA, SAE
TriDelta w/ Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Chi
These are the pairs that are very obvious and long lasting. The rest of the sororities and fraternities vary more who they are paired up with from year to year.

We don't have long-lasting pairs but whoever we do Homecoming with is usually who we tend to hang out with more that year. This year, some of the pairs were:
ZTA and SAE
KD and Sigma Chi
ADPi and Lambda Chi
Chi-O and ATO
Tri-Delta and Pike
Delta Gamma and Sig Ep
AZD and Kappa Sig
Pi Phi and Delta Upsilon

Chi Omega is nationally paired with Kappa Sigma because our founder was a Kappa Sig!
On my campus however it is as follows:
(for the most part)
Chi Omega and Pi Kappa Alpha
Alpha Xi Delta and Sigma Phi Epsilon
Sigma Kappa and Lambda Chi Alpha/Phi Delta Theta
Zeta Tau Alpha and Lambda Chi Alpha/Theta Chi

We have SO many fraternities here that there simply aren't enough to have a pair that basically just chills together. We have THON partners that usually last for a long time, and do socials and stuff, but all the sororities do stuff with a bunch of fraternitits just because there are so many.

Because AGD and Tau Kappa Epsilon are the only nationals at my campus we usually tend to do things together. We're also self-governed as we do not belong to the Inter Sorority/Fraternity councils as the local greeks are. The local greeks are run differently and pledge differently. Over the years, us and the TKEs (as well as the SigEps when they were still there) had issues about the locals and their "hazing" so that's why we have chosen to run our rush a different way.

I'm a Chi-O and tons of my girls hang out with Sig Eps. I've heard this a lot from different universities- our houses are often close friends.
