Save RPI greeks

The administration sprung some massive changes on the Rensselaer greek community. Now I would say as an alum I am not sure the whole "dry house" thing alone is something to be drastically upset over. However I do feel like the crazy recruitment changes and the house parent addition in APRIL needing a house Mom in May.

Recruitment changes are:
recruitment doesn't begin till the 6th week of first semester and the new member period cannot begin till the Spring semester; and there is no provisions for Spring rush...ie whoever you get in the Fall is your pledge class for the year

Also what makes me angry is the "data" used by administration to defend their decisions...take a look at the website to see a fuller perspective on it - and sign the petition!!!

The Panhellenic President from RPI has contacted NPC, who have contacted International Headquarters for each of the groups. An organized effort by all of the groups, as a united front, is likely.

That said, it sounds very similar to how things are run at Lafayette, although they limit the new member period to 3 weeks on top of everything else.

changes a-comin'

booze in houses will be a thing of the past; it is only in recent
times that it was allowed and it has been abused terribly
housemothers of some type will return; letting us take care of our
house resulted in hovels, we shit in our own mess kits
BUT to screw with rush is simply stupid, an idea of some idiot who
was never greek and has an oar out of the water.
Negotiate, compromise...but change it is a-comin'

Why would they drag out the period between when you get your bid and when you start pledging?? Most schools have shortened this to (supposedly) prevent hazing, what is the point of doing the opposite? Unless they think people will lose interest or something.

3 weeks!?

I wouldn't have even gotten through sorority history in 3 weeks.

Ours is 6 weeks, and even then, we're pushing it.

What disturbs me about the article citing Dean Knowles is that its all about the IFC and the alcohol...the crazy rush ideas have no place in their plan.
