Renewing dedication/sorority spirit

Sorry for the long post....I need some advice....lately the level of involvement and dedication as well as sorority spirit in my chapter are waning. A lot of our charter members have lost interest and don't make it to meetings anymore. We only have Business Meetings once a month, how hard can it be to show up? Then we try to schedule at least 2 other social type things every month but everyone bails on it!

Communication is also a huge problem in the chapter- because we aren't based in a central location and have no permanent home, we rely on our yahoogroup to communicate, but most girls only check that once a week, (if even...) and oftentimes girls won't even answer the yahoogroup!!! No matter how many times I beg, plead and scold, the emails go unanswered (and these are important emails, not just 'hey, whats up?")

I'm afraid this attitude of not caring is going to rub off on our newly initiated sisters and affect the types of girls we are able to recruit.

We also have a huge lack of spirit within the chapter...maybe it's because of the nature of our type sorority and the lack of nearby chapters...I don't know. All I know is that it seems no one is really proud of their affiliation. My entire apartment is a shrine to Phi Beta Psi, I own more lettered shirts than I can wear in a lifetime. However this is not the norm....most girls have 0-1 sorority shirts that they rarely wear...and forget trying to get them to wear thein pins to meetings! A few Sisters actually ::GASP:: LOST THEM! My pin is my most prized posession so I cannot fathom how they could LOSE them!

How can we spark something in these girls to regain the excitement and pride they once had in being a Phi Bete? Our national says to try to recruit really heavily and find the women out there who will be able to turn things around, and that way the 'dead weight' wont seem so heavy....but when recruitment time comes around, there are three of us at all the events! What respectable woman is going to join something that the members arent even supporting???

HELP!

It's really eerie how I could relate to your concerns. For the sake of discretion, I'm going to PM you. I think some brainstorming on both our parts is key to helping our chapters avoid this continual downward spiral.
