Gift ideas- Administrative Professionals Day

It's next Wednesday... this is my first year having a secretary (I actually have 2). The one that I really like and that i'm good friends with is 20, engaged to be married in the fall, and pretty cool. The other is a middle aged mother of two.

I really can't afford to spend a lot, and each of them will know what I got the other (it's a small office!). Any ideas?

You're a lawyer with two secretaries and can't afford to spend a lot?

Buy them lotto tickets.

How about you get both of them a 50 buck gift certificate at Bed Bath Beyond (or some place similar?)

I know what you are thinking, but dont' get them an office plant for them to put on their 36th floor desk

At my last job I had several secretaries.

What I did when this came around, was make them a basket. I bought cute inexpensive baskets from Walmart and filled them with a mug and hot chocolate or coffee, I put some candy in there, and something personal. If you know one loves to read a book, if one loves pictures a nice picture frame, etc. You cna add some scratch offs in the basket too.

I then got them all very nice cards and wrote exactly how much I appreciated all their hard work.

One year we just splurged and had a big lunch for them with a cake and we got them each flowers and a fruit basket.

Last year I did the baskets and they all seemed to love it. Its the thought that counts.

Gift certificates have always worked for me in the past - just make sure they're the same amount for both. Bed Bath and Beyond, Williams Sonoma, Blockbuster (if they like movies), some place like that.
