We just got back from hawaii yesterday morning. IT is quite expensive there but worth every penny.
The hawaiin natives and the hotel/restaurant/store workers had some of the best service i've ever experienced. I've been in and out of 5 star resorts since i was 4 traveling with my dad across the country and never was the service as good as it was in Hawaii. Only bad thing though is that Hawaii is FULL of hippies. Not the environmentally/politically motivated hippies but the hippies that literally live out of the VW vans, cars, panhandling stuff.....but aside from that it was all great.
WE first stayed at the Ihilani resort in Ko Olina area on Oahu. While here we hiked up some mountain, checked out Diamond Head crater, and of course the beach. We did somethign else too but i forgot where we went. Then we traveled over to maui where we stayed in Wailea. Here we went shopping and to a Luau, drove around, found a old lava field, and drove up the Hana coastal highway(saw waterfalls and a bamboo forest and places where Jurassic Park was filmed). WE then came back to Oahu to the Waikiki beach area. This area felt like the strip in Las Vegas. the shopping there is quite high end too on both the "waikiki strip" and in the ala moana district but there are moderate priced stores as well. We felt like we were walking through the bellagio hotel. But atlest in Waikiki and in Maui they like for you to come in even to just look around where at the Bellagio in Vegas they only want you to come in if you are going to buy something. WE also drove up to the North Shore and the Windward coasts as well which didnt have as big of waves as they do in the winter time but it was still impressive! We had lots of fun and highly recommend Hawaii for travel.
The wedding itself:
The ceremony was beautiful and went flawlessly. the reception however, though beautiful and the place we had it at did a good job, our DJ totally stunk. I got backed into using the DJ we had because it was Paul's uncle and he worked for free for us instead of me going with a DJ i knew from greek parties in the past. But my florist did an outstanding job, the caterer did well, the photographer did well, the cake lady did the cake great and our wedding planners a the church did excellent too. So all in all it was a great day! Plus I now have officially 1 theta legacy and 2 sigma chi legacies now. So i'm a happy step mom in addition to a newly wed.
