Search for missing boys heats up
Lack of tips puzzles police
Wednesday, March 22, 2006; Posted: 1:52 p.m. EST (18:52 GMT)
MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) -- Police walked shoulder-to-shoulder through a wooded area and divers were sent to a park lagoon Wednesday in an escalating search for two young boys who disappeared while playing together Sunday.
Officers have been searching vacant houses, vacant vehicles and the homes of registered sex offenders in the area where the boys were last seen, but there has been no sign of them, said police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz.
Police also haven't found any evidence of a crime, but the lack of tips has been unusual.

Watching CNN and they are interviewing the teacher of Purvis. Very very sad.

Not again
I'm praying this story has a happy ending. I'm so sick of hearing about these animals, disguised as human beings, killing and raping our children. I would love for this to be one of those rare occassions when I am reminded of the kindness that exists in this world.

This is so sad. It's always something. Kids can't even go out to play in peace these days. I don't know what I'd do if someone close to me came up missing. I could only imagine. It's also sad that it's approaching a week and still nothing. I just saw the story on the Daily Buzz. I will definitely send up a prayer.

Mother of one of the boys said they've been found (AP)
MILWAUKEE - The mother of one of two boys missing for almost a month said Saturday that their bodies had been recovered from a park lagoon near where they disappeared.
Purvis Virginia Parker, 11, and Quadrevion Henning, 12, were last seen on the afternoon of March 19 when they asked Henning's grandfather if they could play basketball at the nearby park.
The bodies were found in the park lagoon on Friday.
"Yes, it's my son," said Angela Virginia, who said she identified Purvis from a photo that police showed her. She said Quadrevion was identified by his family.
Police did not immediately confirmed the identities, and Quadrevion's family could not immediately be reached for comment. Autopsies were scheduled Saturday and police scheduled a news conference for later in the day.
The first of the two bodies was found about 7:30 p.m. Friday after a man and his son walking in the park saw something floating, Police Chief Nan Hegerty said.
Police and Fire Department divers found the second body around 10 p.m. Both bodies were fully clothed, had been in the lagoon from quite some time and were bloated, authorities said.
After the boys' disappearance, police and volunteers searched the neighborhood, posted leaflets around the city and made repeated appeals for information anyone might have.
Divers waded through the lagoon's icy water, but because of the muddy bottom, it was possible the bodies could have been missed in a search, Hegerty said.
The boys' families said the two had no history of running away and had good school attendance records, and police fielded hundreds of calls on a tip line offering possible leads.
A Florida group called A Child Is Missing also had helped police in the search. The group called all home and business telephone numbers within a mile of where the boys were last seen and played a recorded message about the pair, officials have said.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and America's Most Wanted also posted pictures of the boys on their Web sites.

When will this end...
I am too sad for words. This reminds me of one of the few Oprah Winfrey episodes I caught when she was saying how tired she is of being angry with these child killers/molesters. Far be it for me to judge another person but we, the United States citizens, spend far too much money on trials for these animals just lock their behinds up and move on to the next monster! I am just sick of this crap!!!! It's gotten so bad that some parents I know kiss their children like it's the last time they will see them every time they let them walk out the door- now that's sad.

I've not heard much about this. Waiting to see what autopsies reveal. Seems a little odd that they both drowned. So unfortunate.

It can happen. Back in 5th grade two of my classmates died in a drowning. One could swim and the other couldn't. Basically what happened, they were playing around near the river, when one (the one that couldn't swim) fell in. The other boy jumped in and tried to save him, but they both ended up drowning.
May the Holy Spirit comfort these families.

They were found fully clothed. It may have been that they drowned.

Yes this does happen a lot here, even with adults, because of all of the lakes that we have.
