And it was delightful on my side of town, just lightning off in the distance-- nothing else!

I just read that 60% of KU's campus is damaged from yesterday's storms.
Good grief...

Oklahoma has thus far been relatively quiet.
I like it that way.

I was wondering the same thing? A couple of weeks ago there were some tornados in Lawrence, KS that damaged the campus. (i was in town that day, there were trees and crap all over)

Yes, but there is no Gary England drinking game when there are no tornados.
Not to mention, the storm chasers are growing more and more obnoxious because they are so bored.

I've only encountered a couple tornados, NOT much fun, but within 5 months, my house & yard got hit with two microbursts. The good thing is, the neighbors' insurance took care of most of the damage, because their trees did most of the damage.

This was the ones that came through Saturday. I had read it on the cox.com newspage.
Here is the closet thing I could find...
Quote:
At the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where classes were canceled Monday because of the danger of falling debris, University Chancellor Robert Hemenway put the damage at $6 million.

Ah, the joys of living in tornado alley. I don't know what I'd do if a twister were headed my way. I live in an apartment on the second floor. I guess just start praying really fervently and really fast.

So far down here in Wichita, we just have been having the 90 degree days - no storms, tornados - nothing.
Just a lot of grass fires though. So I guess there is always some natural disaster looming.

Is it steel construction? If so, I'd say head to an interior bath or closet. If not, Id at least go downstairs.
Though, in my area, if there's a tornado spotted, people run outside to watch.
