Meeting Alpha Gams in Random Places
I know this topic had it's own thread a while ago, but I can't find it now!
I own a gift store/art gallery in Birmingham, MI and yesterday was really, really slow! While I was sitting there I started reading the Quarterly for the fourth time (of course, I'll always find something I didn't read the first 3 times!) when a group of girls came into the gallery. As they were looking around, they noticed I was reading the Quarterly and went WILD! They are all alumnae from Chi Chapter - all living within 1/2 mile of my store now. They vowed to make it the new AGD hangout. Very fun!!
And, since I am ZO's Chapter Advisor right now, I had to use the opportunity to try and recruit them as advisors!! One of them was interested, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Fun fun.

I was at the lake with my pledge sister that I live with and I was wearing a letter shirt. There were 10 boats parked with us and this young girl from one boat goes, "What sorority are you in?" trying to read my shirt in the dark. I said "Alpha Gamma Delta" and she squealed. Turns out she is an AGD from West Florida. I am going to send her some of my shirts that I have doubles of down to her. She was sweet as pie and we taught her a few chants and songs they hadn't heard before. Super sweet girl and she kept telling us to come to Pensacola to visit!
So yay for random AGD's! Also- I had known this girl when she was 3-8 years old! But she is 4 years younger than me so back then we used to just play with her like a babydoll! Haha!

There was a car with an AGD sticker parked in front of my apartment building one day that I didn't recognize.
We waited outside for her (it was a nice day). Turns out she was from Westminster (Amber from Survivor's Chapter) which is about an hour and a half from here (I think).

I met an Alpha Gam in my pilates class the other day (not from my chapter, from a chapter in the South--I can't remember which state she said)! It was great--she joked around that she was intiated before I was born! Hopefully, a wonderful new friendship will begin! I was excited, I had on a shirt with a small squirrel on it (one of our old chapter shirts) and she asked me if I was in Alpha Gamma Delta!

I mentioned this in the Random thread a while ago. When I volunteered for the Corsage Project with the Junior League this past spring, a woman said that she went to Dalhousie University (where our Alpha Eta chapter is). I think I must have mentioned something about GLOs or perhaps a sister from that chapter, when she said that she too is an AGD alumna (she also said that her husband is a Sig alumnus).
Junior League of Toronto's president-elect (will become president in 2006-07) is also from the Alpha Eta chapter.

Job Interview
I'm interviewing tomorrow for a managment position at a certain retail store. I called yesterday to confirm the time with the store manager and when I was telling her my availability, I said I couldn't work on Mondays because I'm in a sorority and that's when we have chapter. She responds with, "Oh, I was in one at UGA, which one are you in?" To which I say Alpha Gam and she lets out, in a very happy, loud, excited voice, "Shut Up! I was one at UGA, too!!!" Turns out she graduated only a semester before I pledged Hope I get the job!

I was in Memphis for a School Age Care conference a few years ago and met a few AGD's at a restaurant. I was wearing a jacket with letters and they came up to say hello.

Met a fellow Alpha Gam Dem!
So this weekend I was at the Young Democrats of America Convention in San Francisco (which was awesome) and I was just chatting up some people at a hospitality event and a girl mentioned she knew how to have fun b/c she was in a sorority. So I was like "which one" and she goes "Alpha Gamma Delta!" so I shook her hand real quick like ( ) and she was like "OMG! Get out!" So we immediately starting taking pics of each other all weekend long. She is the best gal, total Alpha Gam quality! If anyone on here is from IU, Shanica is one of the best ladies I've met in a long time! We are keeping alive the spirit of our sister, Millie McWilliams Jeffrey, and fighting for progressive ideals!

I was actually studying abroad this summer, and in the bathroom of our hostel during a weekend trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, I happened to meet two AGDs from (I think) OU. It was really random and pretty cool, as they had met a few people in our group the day before.

Didn't really "meet" them cause I'm their CA but I was watching Channel 2 tonight and the station was doing a story on how West Georgia is dumping "Braves" and going for some other name (some are stupid...)
Anyway, they were showing stock footage when I realized they were showing the GTaus from a couple of years ago. They were participating in a walk to honor a student who was missing/murdered...didn't really have anything to do with the Braves story.
Maybe I'll stay up for the 11 news to see if they replay it...and they always repeat week day news on Sat and Sun so I'll have to keep an eye and ear out!!

There was a Chapter sister there. Don't get to see her much since we work in different buildings next to each other.
