yeah ... I saw that this morning ... thought about bidding on it and then realized that the crest is wrong.

I think that the crest is correct for the time period it was made in. I forget what the date was but the crest was changed from the style in this piece to the current one. My chapter had a few pieces that included the old style crest.

The crest is not wrong. The crest is right for the time period before the correction were made. Don't remember what year they made the corrections. I know this because I read it in one of the old Quill's. It is a very beautiful table.

There is an article in a recent Quill about the crest and how it evolved.

What do you guys think of this? I'm thinking I could get some discount pillow cases and fabric and iron on adhesive and puff paint (for outlining the edges) and make it for new members on bid day.

Not about the pillow cases...

I bought that antique table and it was delivered yesterday!! I have yet to take a really close look at it, but I've dated the crest to pre-1930 and with the build of the table it is definitely from that time period. The coolest thing is not only the crest painted on there, but it's been engraved as well.

The seller was a TKE alumni and said that if he didn't sell it then he would eventually pull the top off and hang it on the wall in his basement bar!! ARG! So, now, another AZD item for my "trophy room"!!!

Angry

wtf is this?

If it's "truly" the bonds of sisterhood....then there's nothing to worry about, since thats a public document...but I dunno....

It's probably an early edition of the current Bonds of Sisterhood. I'd say the next questions should be, is it hers? If not, where did she get it? Can she give the year it was published? What chapter it's from? What "secrets" does it contain? Any additional detail would give it more value.

As far as published secrets....what sororities consider secret now, wasn't always. It is quite common to look in the early editions of history books and read about what things meant. I've read a few sororities early history books which contained the detail. It was later that initiation, etc become private.

I'll go on a limb and say this book is probably from the '50's-'60's....I own a few of manuals, etc from that time period and they all have light blue covers and navy writing.....

Ok I just saw this and was wondering when did they make these. It would be weird to see a sister wearing a sword.Sword

I would guess the sword is for a guy, maybe a party favor?

The Bonds of Sisterhood is probably an early edition, when they switched from "pledge" manuals. It's more recent than the 60's and 70s. Most likely about the same time everyone became "new members"

I just saw a paddle with our letters on it. I was just wondering when did Nationals stop allowing Member to make paddles.
