DZ sister dies at IU

A junior from DZ (our sister sorority this semester) was found dead by her roommate this morning. She had been complaining about having flu-like symptoms and was at the student health center earlier this week. The doctor told her it was the flu and sent her home to rest.

One of my sister's mothers works for an Indianapolis area doctor where the office phones have been ringing constantly. They have been told that there is a meningitis outbreak at one of the sororities, which I am assuming is IU's Delta Zeta chapter.

Please keep Nichole Birky's family and DZ's Epsilon Chapter in your thoughts and prayers.

Crashing to offer my condolences to both you and the DZ chapter and Nicole's family. One of my housemates this semester passed away from meningitis and it is a scary thing. Stepping on my soapbox to say that if anyone is going to be a freshman in college next year, you should definitely get vaccinated, and parents, if you have children that are going into college, please vaccinate them.
