House Parties
Many of us who either lived in dry houses or lived on dry campuses had to resort to partying off campus. In my chapter, we had both formal and informal types of events. The formal events included guest lists, security, t-shirts were made, etc. The informal parties which were basically going on somewhere with someone on any given night never had even a bit of thought put into them as safety was concerned.
(I'm an alumnus and I'm sure this has changed since my graduation)
Does anyone's chapter have any sort of risk management strategy for informal events or is risk management pretty much left up to the individuals who attend?

What exactly do you mean by informal parties somewhere with someone? Are you talking about some dude having a party at his apartment or house?

I thought that was a sorority thing. If I invite three of my buddies over for euchre on a monday night, I'm not considering that a Pi Kappa Alpha event. In regards to your question though, I would have to say that any risk management would be under my hands then. I mean it is my house, so if anything happened to someone I would have to deal with it.

Our risk managemant strategy is simple.
1. Don't sign for the kegs
2. If the cops come run like hell.

I miss those days. ...But seriously, now that I'm over the legal age limit by a couple of years, and have always hung out with people a little older than me to begin with I really don't have any reason to worry about the cops cramping my style. It's weird too because when I think back it seemed like parties were always getting broken up when I was underage, but now at the parties we have which are a lot louder and crazier the cops never show up.

In Oklahoma (and I'm sure other states) this is impossible. Not only must you sign for the kegs, the store clerk has to put your driver's license number down on his sign out sheet.

lol. I also tried to edit the subject of the Penn State "stunent" falling thread. I guess we can't edit titles.
