Reality TV...

Am I the only one that thinks reality shows have ruined TV?

NO!

Though reality shows aren't 100% real, they reflect reality more than sitcoms.

Nope, Reality shows are practically all I watch. Well, I only watch certain ones though. I don't get a lot of t.v time being in graduate school, so I choose what I watch based on what entertains me. American Idol, Amazing Race and Survivor all entertain me. No clue why, they just do. The only one I would even consider going on would be Amazing Race.

I've been boycotting them since the first survivor.

Re: Reality TV...

There are good reality shows and bad reality shows, just like any other genre of TV show.

A choice between Survivor/The Amazing Race or That's My Momma/Three's Company/Hart to Hart/Love Boat? Give me Survivor/The Amazing Race.

MTV's dating reality shows are entertaining, athough they are starting to mulitply and it's getting scary: Date My Mom, Room Raiders, Next, My Own, Parental Control - I think I missing one, but you get the point.

Those shows you mentioned are not reality tv. American Idol-not real. Fear Factor- not real. I mean seriously people, I get offered money all the time to eat rocky mountain oysters.

Those are all glorified game shows. Just because someone breaks down in front of a camera while trying to win something doesnt make it reality, in fact all of that crap is far from reality.

Now REAL reality TV, awesome! Cops, The First 48, Intervention, Dog, local evening news, all great shows.

I have enough reality in my real life without these shows. Living vicariously through "reality" tv is not for me.

Reality TV is a contradiction of terms.
