Project Butterfly

In spite of the sometimes depressing stories we hear about the state of our Black community--especially unguided/misguided girls-- it's very refreshing to hear of women not unlike ourselves, committed to developing young Black women into strong Black women of character, virtue and purpose.

I found this link on MSN about 'Women Working For Change' and thought I'd post the link so y'all can check it out and perhaps support her. There are other women mentioned in this report, but *this one especially caught my eye* Homegirl is on THE MOVE!

Enjoy!

PS--Soror Moderators, I performed a search for 'Project Butterfly' and nothing came up, so I apologize if this belongs somewhere else.

Kudos!

Even though many of our chapters sponsor programs which focus on young women, this is evidence that there are still needs in our communities and that every little bit can only help.

I agree there can never be too many programs aimed at young women and young African American children to give them guidance and nurturance along the path of life be it etiquette, scholarship or career success. I believe I saw a salute to similar outstanding African American women in Essence this past fall, where the founder of Project Butterfly was highlighted also. I had a chance to peruse the book and it can be used at any age level! An outstanding book!
