Biography
Carleta E. Ricks is the proud daughter of Mrs. Juanita and Bobby Ricks. Carleta has one younger brother Bartae Ricks. She is graduating senior, political science major, at Elizabeth City State University. Carleta is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated , Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society, Student Government Association, Student Activities Committee and the Pan-Hellenic Council. Carleta is the reigning Miss Elizabeth City State University for the 2005-2006 academic school year. She also holds three other crowns and titles including: Miss Black and Gold 2002 (fall), Miss Oscar Smith High School 2002-2003, Miss Talented Teen Virginia 2000. Carleta has also been awarded 1st Runner-Up in the Miss Teen Chesapeake Pageant. Carleta has been nominated and recognized in both Who’s Who Among American High School Students and Who’s Who Among American College Students. She is an All-American Scholar and has been honored numerous times on the National Dean’s List. Carleta has also been a cheerleader since the age of nine and has made the All-American cheerleading squad two years. She has had the opportunity to cheer at both the Hula and the Citrus Bowl. Upon graduation in May of 2006, Carleta plans to attend law school where she will obtain her J.D. degree and her masters in public administration. She will become a corporate attorney and eventually own her own firm. Carleta’s ultimate goal in life is to become a prestigious judge. She is guided by her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the love of her parents, friends and extended family, and most particularly her late grandmother, Mrs. Geneva Sykes. Carleta refers to her as her “moving spirit” of inspiration to succeed. Carleta likes to live by this motto “let your good works speak for you;” and thus far she has done just that.
