Jerry! Jerry!
While flipping channels, I came upon Jerry Springer's show. Of course, someone was cheating, the wife/girlfriend confronted the other person and the husband/boyfriend. I did NOT realize that the fights were being shown. I know a few years back his show was edited so that the actual brawls were not shown.
1. I'm wondering why this show still airs (our time slot: 4pm)
2. Why aren't the fights edited anymore?
I was shocked when I actually saw the fights.

In Charlotte, it comes on 11 or 12. I was home last week with my mom and we watched it together. The women in the audience at the end of the show, show their breasts just to get some Mardi Gras beads.
There is more fighting on there than actual dialogue. The ep I watched, as soon as a woman comes out from the back, she takes her shoes off.

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a Jerry fan!
In Atlanta it comes on twice a day--once at 9:00 a.m. and again at noon. On Saturday nights it comes on at midnight.
2D, they did edit out the fights but they are slowly but surely bringing it back, and I think it's because people want to see other people fighting, women flashing the audience/dancing on the "stripper pole" on the stage now to get "Jerry beads", etc. Simply put the show is messy, and we love watching our fair share of mess
I've been watching Jerry for years and I remember when it was a lot worse than what it is now. They still let them fight now and they show it, but they just don't let it go as long.

Jerry comes on at like 8am here and again at like 10 or 11 I think. See that goes to show you how much I don't watch it
Back in 97-98 Jerry was OFF THE HOOK. The most classic episode was the transy Brittany and the chicks who came on there to confront Brittany and they said "Freak Ho" and Brittany smacked the crap outta one of em.

2D Believe it or not, that very same day (9ish in the morning), I tuned in to see if Springer was still on TV (there was an online rumor that the 04-05 season would be the last). Needless to say, that is not so. And I was also surprised to see the fights being shown.
To the poster that said that the '97-'98 season was off the chain, you ain't lyin'. I bought the book that highlighted shows from primarily that season and the season before that. I also remember renting videos that highlighted all the crazy fights instigated on the show. Matter of fact, Springer actually beat out Oprah for highest rated talk show that season, something virtually unheard of. But yes, the show has been on 14 years and is still going strong.
BTW, whatever happened to Rufus and Treynae? They were pure entertainment.

I saw that ep two weeks ago
I always enjoyed the "holiday" epsiodes where the families come on there and fight--and throw food and drinks at each other.
Or the infamous KKK vs. black people in the audience epps...

Stress Relief
Watching Jerry always makes me feel better.
His show reminds me that no matter how bad things are in life there are people who have a lot more issues than I do. Therefore, I can't complain.

I will admit that I watch Jerry because I need my daily allowance of mess. Like the previous poster, watching these crazy people makes me feel better about myself and my life in general. I will also admit that I used to order the Jerry Uncensored on PPV on a monthly basis so I could see the fights because they weren't showing them on the regular show. Jerry comes on at 11 am here in Saginaw.

I can always gage my optimism meter by how easily I'll watch Springer, if I'm extremely positive, goal-directed, and working on something I can't watch it. If I'm depressed or pissed off and have lost sight of the prize or if it's transexuals fighting I'm glued. I'm embarassed to be watching if my son comes home a little early from school, because I'm always telling him how some of his Nickolodeon shows have no plot and here I am watching Springer. My favorite was when two people were fighting and a braided bob wig flew off one, Jerry picked it up and put it on his head, I thought I would cough up a lung!!
