Were you the popular kid in High School?

I was the floater in high school. Probably known as the joker. Just thought about it from reading another message board.

I was in like the "B" group. I wasn't popular in the sense that I was never on Prom Court or anything like that... but I was friends with many or most of the people at school. People liked me, and I liked them.

I always wanted to be more popular in high school (who didn't) but looking back now it probably would have been no different, or worse... a lot of the people didn't like the "popular" kids.

Ditto. We lovingly called ourselves the B List. We called the popular kids the A List. Everyone knew who we were, we were leaders in many school activities, we were cheerleaders and athletes, but didn't quite have "it." We were friends with the A List and we'd often go to the same parties and the like, but we'd often do our own thing. I was happy with my "status" in high school, and I'm still best friends with every one of them.

I went to a small private school so we didn't have groups the way people do at traditional high schools. I had some friends and was in all the clubs. The younger kids thought that I was popular, but I was just involved in everything. I was (tried to be) nice to everyone, too.

I think I was semi-popular. I never really felt like I was popular, but I hung out with popular people. I kind of floated amongst a couple of groups - the athletes, the "preppy cool" kids, etc. I always wanted to be more than I was, but I think I was okay.

Well, I think I was more of a nerd in high school than anywhere else. (I mean, come on. I won our English department award and the teacher presenting it compares me to Hermione Granger and Lisa Simpson in the same sentence! If that doesn't establish my nerdiness, I don't know what does.)

I was, however, on my school's Homecoming Court. Go figure.

I had friends from every group in high school; I honestly tried to be nice to everyone. If anything, I was probably classified as a "jock girl", because I was captain of the tennis team junior and senior year.

I'm pretty lucky that somehow I escaped a stereotype because, to be honest, I swear that the high schools in Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful were modeled on MY high school! lol The big factions were known as the "Chaps", the "Burnouts", the "Jocks" and everyone else.

To be honest, up until my Junior year I considered myself part of the A list. I was such a freaking snob it wasn't funny.

I got a reality check from someone at a class retreat. It was from an alumna who told me that labels didn't really mean jack shit after high school. Her testimonial affected me so much that I started getting more involved w/ school. Cheerleading wasn't my main concern anymore. It was also Student Council, yearbook, and campus ministry.

My A list friends eventually dropped me, and it was the best thing ever.

Another B-list girl here. I was friends with the popular kids but not close friends. I was on Valentine's Day dance court but I didn't win. I ran cross-country with the popular girls (yes, XC was the "popular" sport at our high school) but didn't hang out with them much outside of school and sometimes parties.

I was never popular, but that didn't mean that I was a loser. I wasn't really outgoing. I did have some friends though.
