Post Zeta Forum?

Is there a forum for prospectives of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.? I know the AKA's and the Delta's have one. Where can someone go to meet members and get a better feel for your organization. I am in the process of doing my research and I find it so much easier to gather information onother organizations. Where can I go for more info? Thanks in advance to anyone that responds.

Hi uniqueD,

Zeta Phi Beta does not have a forum for prospectives. If you would like to meet members and get to know us better and learn more about Zeta Phi Beta, you have several options!

Get to know the Sorors in your area by attending events, community service projects, and forums. Don't be shy!

If there is a question you would like to ask, you can post it to this board, send one of us a private email, or you can visit http://www.finerwoman.com and Ask Pearl. There is a link on the site that you can click to ask a question.

You can also learn more about our sorority on the National Website: http://www.zpb1920.org

Good Luck and let me know if you have any questions!

Finding out info via the net is great and I would hit every site that my Soror suggested to you. However, the young ladies in the chapter at your school or in your community is the best source. This not only give you insight into the Sorority(public stuff) but you get to know some really DOVine women and really find if Zeta Phi Beta is for you!

Thanks for all of the advice. I have already graduated from school and I have been doing some volunteer work with an alumnae chapter in my area. I guess my main concern is that the chapter is small and although I like the members I am not sure if I have met enough people or know enough about the organization to know that it is the right one for me. I have been to the international website as well as the websites of all the NPHC organizations. Since the information on these sites is public I feel like it is very generic and it is hard for one organization to stand out from the rest. I have a feeling that the chapter I am working with my invite me to join their organization in the not so distant future. If and when that time comes I want to be ready to make an informed decision and I just do not feel like I know enough. Joining an organization like this one is a lifetime commitment and I want to be ready to make that commitment if my time comes. Maybe I am jumping the bullet a little bit, becuase I do not know if I will be extended an invitation. I just want to be prepared in case I am. I also want to meet members a little closer to my own age. I have only been out of college for a year and these women have been out for sometime most have been members of the organization for 5 or more years. I wanted to be able to talk to people who are in my situation or have been there before. Everyone I meet on the web wants to be an AKA of a delta and I know that those are not the right organizations for everyone. Sorry for the long post and thanks for the advice.

unique_D,

Glad you are interested in learning about all the NPHC Sororities, especially Zeta. As my Sorors have stated, the best way to know if the Sorority is the right one for you is to get to know her members and mission. You are right...Zeta is on the road a bit less travelled, which we encourage(every woman is simply not a "Zeta Woman"...) and it's more difficult to find the "prospect boards" and other sites that sometimes generate inaccurate information about the Sororities anyway.

Candidly though, you will NEVER have enough information about Zeta before you apply for membership. I have been in the Sorority since 1993 and there are still new things I learn about her everyday. I will tell you that I probably knew less about Zeta than I did about the other two larger sororities before I applied. At some point, after you've researched, and talked and questioned to your heart's content, you have to say "do I think I can make an impact within this Sorority?--see, it's not so much about what the Sorority can do for YOU, but more about what your talents, resources and personality can lend to the missions, goals and objectives of the Sisterhood.

I selected Zeta because I felt she would be the most receptive to what I could provide to her. In turn, her members and other members of the Blue and White family made me feel like a true Blue family member, and I believe in and stand by the four principles upon which my Sorority is founded.

Was I 100%, willing-to-swear-on-someone's-grave positive that is was the absolute best Sorority for me when I filled out my application for membership? No, and if I looked deep, deep in the soul's of most Sorority and Fraternity members within the NPHC, I doubt if they could say differently. I have seen enough disenfrancished members in every NPHC organziation that I know this is not the case. What you have to use at the end of the day, is your gut, base-level instict. At my base level, I "knew" Zeta was the best Sorority for me, and ultimately, she has never given me any reason to believe differently.

God's Blessings on your search, and hopefully if your path leads to Zeta, you too will understand why Zeta's members "love her ever and foresake her never".

Best,
Shela
