New Chapter
The dates for our colonizing recruitment have been set for North Carolina Delta at NC State. Registration will begin Oct 1 with the colonizing rush to be held Oct 14-17. Women of ALL classes will be considered (this is a great opportunity for juniors and seniors!) A chairman has been named for AAC and I would imagine that an announcement will be made where to send RIFs later this summer.

Awesome! I'm hoping a few of my friends from high school will go through even though they're juniors. I've been trying to convince them!! So many kids from my high school go to State...

I know from past experience with colonies that it is good to have a range of ages. You want some juniors and even seniors to provide leadership immediately AND so you don't have that huge shock when your charter class graduates! I hope some of your friends are pledged... it is good for a new colony to have "connections" with a variety of chapters.

I love to hear about new Pi Phi chapters. NC State is a great campus and I am sure we will thrive there.

hello ladies, i'm a delta gamma at nc state where the new pi phi chapter will be colonized. i went to the presentation that your nationals made and it was very well put together. i was very impressed. we listened to two other sororities (i only saw ya'll and one more) but pi phi was by far the best. i'm so happy ya'll will be coming to NCSU because we need more sororities. we were colonized just about two years ago, so we understand the whole newness situation. we went through formal recruitment for the first time this past fall and it was a very new situation for myself. i graduated this year, so i won't get to see pi phi colonize, but i will definitley visit. i'm sure ya'll will be very successful at state because of all of the support from alumni and your nationals. congratulations and good luck!

Does anyone know why the new colony will rush almost a month after the rest of the GLO's? apparently, this is standard procedure but I'm wondering why they do it this way?

probably because in formal recruitment you wouldn't have any girls to be rushing, so it would be kind of weird. i know that 2 years ago when delta gamma was colonizing, they had a longer drawn out more informed process. that way, the girls knew what they were getting into. plus they had members of exec come down and do personal interviews with each girl that wanted to rush. it's probably because they might want some older girls who would be willing to take leadership responsibilities rather than having mostly freshmen and sophomores. that's just my guess. also, there's not as much pressure if you don't have to worry about the deadlines of formal recruitment. just a thought. good luck! i love my wolfpack!

Beth- I'm sure you're right, just seemed a bit odd to me but I know that is how DG did it a few years ago. Anyway, thanks and I agree about your Wolfpack! My husband works at NCSU.

I don't know about NCSU but at NMSU we're having Delta Gamma come on campus this fall. Their recruitment is also about a month after formal recruitment. This allows for the other sororities to do some recruiting before the new chapter comes on board to make them stronger. Most campus panhellenics wouldn't want to bring a new chapter on board and have an older chapter suffer and risk closing.
Hope that helps.

Update on the new chapter, the RGC has arrived in Raleigh and the newly formed AAC will meet for the first time on Friday with our new CPP to get more info on the rush plans etc. The local alum club is really excited about helping out!

That is great! Colonizations are so exciting!
Hey- if you're in the Raleigh club, is Sue Campana a member? She was my CPP when I was a chapter officer...
