Arrow Opinions needed

I have a problem/dilemma that I need help with.

Back in the spring, one of my classes conflicted with my sorority meetings. I told my chapter I would not be able to attend meetings for a few months. I haven't been back to a meeting since. The class was part of the reason, the other part I never discussed with them.

That other part was this: at Christmas time my chapter put me in charge of finding a family that we could buy gifts for so they would have a happy holiday. I contacted a shelter that my work was involved with and they assigned us a family. The family members had requested some gifts that I thought were a little on the expensive side. I took the list to my chapter so we could divide up the gifts. Many of the women in the chapter got upset. Upset at the family and upset at me. Some stated that the gift were too expensive and they were going to buy what they wanted. I got the feeling that some of the sisters thought I picked this family on purpose. I apologized to the chapter saying I had no idea the family would want these gifts, but it was the middle of December, so it was too late to request a different family. If a sister did not want to participate, she didn't have to. I was upset at the shelter who wanted my chapter to buy these gifts, and I was upset at my chapter who basically blamed me for this whole incident. I got the feeling that some of my sisters wanted to give these gifts just to say they gave gifts to someone less fortunate.

Needless to say, I have not been back to my chapter since. I was hoping to join another chapter and tell my current chapter it was a scheduling conflict and I needed to transfer to stay active. The only other chapter in the area I would want to join meets on the same day as mine. So that idea is out the window. I would like to let this other chapter know that I'm interested in transferring, but what do I say to my current chapter if it works out?

Sorry so long. PM me if you need more clarification. Thanks for your help.

just tell your chapter how you feel. Other's in the chapter may be feeling the same way you are and just havent spoken up for whatever reason.

We had a transferee come into our chapter the same time I pledged last year. She came from a chapter where the members called each other everyday and they met twice a month. So she had those expectations coming into my chapter. Well unfortunately for her, all of the chapters in this area are career chapters so they meet about once a month(except for the alpha chapters who usually meet twice a month for obvious reasons). Well everyone in my chapter has a career and she did not so it was not possible for us to call her everyday. She resigned in the spring from the chapter.

Sometimes what seems to be a good fit in the beginning may not always work out that way if expectations are different. I would just be honest with your chapter. But that's just me

Hey everyone! I contacted another chapter in my area. They meet on a day I don't have a conflict with (yet, anyway), they are a ritual chapter, and they have invited me to their next meeting. I haven't given an answer yet, I guess I am a little nervous. Once bitten, twice shy- y'know? (Look above if you don't know what I'm talking about) I really want to be part of an active, welcoming chapter who is proud of sorority and their affiliation. Please provide any encouragement or whatever to help me make a decision. I appreciate it.
