I'd plan a national "best practices" seminar, showcasing successul community social/political community initiatives with DEMONSTRATED, quantifiable success. Seminar attendees would be interested parties from across the U.S. (NAACP and Urban League chapter reps., church orgs, and others) and municipal reps, looking to make similar differences in their home communities. They could come and learn (not argue!) and, to the degree applicable, take successful pilot project initiaves back to their communities for implementation.
"best practice" topic areas would include:
-health care
-education
-access to higher education
-housing
-social service
-financial service/entrepreneurial initiatives
-politicial initiative
at the event's conclusion, I would "incentivise" a competition for future "best practice" seminar host sites, based on the demonstrated, quantifiable success of projects they've taken back and implemented in their cities.
...becuase frankly we've had quite enough "what we should be doing" seminars and thinktanks. it's time to do something.
