Calling AlphaSigOU or any other OU alum/student

What can you tell me about this Chuck Long guy? He's about to be hired to coach SDSU football, and I guess since he's from a historic big name program, I guess I'll give him a chance....

I have to say I'm VERY dissapointed though that Rick Neuheisel and Dennis Erickson didn't get it. I just feel they'd automatically get us to a bowl game next year....

Typical SDSU, get my hopes up...then....

Not an OU student, but Chuck Long is a hell of a pick up. He's been in charge of recruiting California for OU (and in doing so has really cherry picked some great players out of that state), he has great contacts at the college and pro levels, in the past 2 years, he coached a Heisman winning QB, and one of the top offenses in the game, not to mention last season's runner up RB as a freshman.

Chuck's a hell of a coach, and if SDSU is capable of becoming a winning program, he'll get you there.

The more I think about it, as long as we have a guy who WANTS to take us from sleeping giant to MWC power, then I'll give him a chance.

I guess I was just really set on Norm Chow or the other two names I kept hearing about. This hire came out of left field, so I was more shocked than dissapointed.

I just keep thinking about Mike Stoops.

Don't kid yourself, Stan - you were never in the running for Chow.

Long was the runner-up to Bo Jackson in the closest Heisman race in history, you may recall - he's a stud. He's coached everything from QBs to DBs, to being OC currently. He does it all.

Chuck Long is a fantastic pickup for you - enjoy him, for the 3-4 seasons you'll have him until he leaves for Iowa . . . you should become the biggest fan of Kirk Ferentz staying away from the NFL as of right. Now.

1) I kinda knew Norm Chow was never really interested in the job, but as an Asian, that woulda been damn cool.

2) Funny, everyone on the Aztec boards have said Long will go to Iowa in 2010....again, if he can get us to a bowl game for the first time in the MWC and since 1998, then I can't do anything but praise the guy.

I hate Chuck Long. That was the only time I ever pretended to like Iowa just for a boy. And then the boy up and went for Kristina Ramey. God, 1st grade romances are killer.
