Heck, I don't even know what to title this thread :)
My day, by AOIIalum.
Went to the Dr. today about the PITA heel spur. Good news is that we're going with conservative treatment, anti-inflammatory meds and referral to some shoe store down in Columbus, and a follow-up appointment next month.
Now, while I'm waiting in the exam room, teenager #2 called in tears because of a sore throat. Those of you who know teenager #2 know that's not normal operating procedure for him! Got him an appointment for a strep culture a couple of hours later and as expected, it's strep. RX filled, meds taken, and he's zoned out on the couch. All is calm.
Nope! Nine yr old brother comes in just before his 9:30pm bedtime complaining that his head itches. Now, he's fought a haircut since about September, so it's pretty long for him anyway. So, by 10:15pm he's the sad new owner of a head shaved down to 3/8", a comb out and scalp massage and shampoo by mom (oh, the insult! the embarassment!) Luckily, I think it looks more like dry scalp/ezcema vs. my first instinct when he said his head itched (whew!)
Just in case, I completely stripped his bedroom of dirty laundry, bedlinens and his stuffed buddies; vacuumed everything including the mattress, and issued him two brand new pillows before finally saying good night. Now I'm still up at 12:45 doing laundry, again, just in case. Please keep your fingers crossed that when I look at his head in daylight tomorrow morning that I just overreacted and at least he got a haircut and cleaned room out of my descent into mommy-panic-mode!
I hope you ALL had better days than mine and thanks so much for putting up with my ramblings.

One Christmas, my good friend's child had school pictures done in the classroom on the last day of school before holiday break. Someone had brought cute elf hats to use. Yep, within two weeks the entire family, except for the balding dad, had "elf hats."
I can never look at a hat in a department store again in the same way....
Good luck!

Thanks. Turns out he had (I'm thinking positively after 1 1/2 hours of sleep since Tuesday night) "elf hats". His school nurse double checked me this afternoon and I'm clear, although still itchy everywhere! I checked DH and both teens this AM and all were clear, but will endure twice daily hair checks for at least 7 days.
Teen #2 is following his normal strep pattern and his fever spiked again this afternoon. He's almost back to normal temp now and it should be smooth sailing from here on out. Currently he's watching TV while doing homework, and I didn't even have to remind him!
Teen #1 came home with a stomach bug from school but is already feeling better thank heavens. As long as they all are coherent I think DH is going to kidnap me and pay someone else to feed me this evening.
Hope the washing machine holds up

I'm sorry
Hope no one else in the family gets "elf hats", and that everyone is feeling better soon.
Make Mr. AOIIAlum take you somewhere nice you deserve it.

That is the great thing about using the term, "elf hats." You can TOTALLY discuss what is going on at home..in public without people walking around you in a wide-circle!

Here's to NO "elf hats."

We did, but lost valuable laundry time in the process We also think we found the source of the elf hats--apparently they were/are dealing with it in 3 area movie theaters and traced the outbreak to Thanksgiving week showings of the Harry Potter movie. Neighbor girl went to the same theater in Dublin the night after DH & boys went, and she's dealing with the same thing. I'm not sure I'm ever going to a movie theater again after learning this!
Y'all would be amazed at how many things can really be washed in hot water and dried in a hot dryer without being destroyed.

But Dahling, that leads to fading! *gasp*
The only thing to be actually careful of when washing are wool sweaters - and that is NOT because of the temp of the water but because of the aggitation. Unless of course you WANT felt sweaters!
Glad to hear that mysteries are solved!
Roses!
