The store here in NY is really cute. Tho always crowded. I was there on opening day last year and had a ball. Never got the doll myself but enjoyed the books and my sister's dolls. Probably won't watch the movie tho...I think it's a bit much.

My youngest 3 girls are all fired up about it! They have Bitty Babies, Bitty Twins, and one of those individual dolls.
I want the Josefina movie to be next!

I really want to see this movie, but I wouldn't be surprised if I forget to watch it.
Pleasant Company is based just outside of Madison (so there are tons of ties -- my middle school best friend lived next door to a couple of the researchers for the Addy books, for example), so I had the dolls and books and all kinds of accessories going way back -- Samantha was my first, then my little sister got Molly and then I got Kirsten. I had EVERYTHING of Samantha's that it was possible to have. I must have read the books 100 times, too.

Canada has its equivilent of American Girl, called Our Canadian Girl. There is a character who is kind of like Samantha. Her name is Penny, and she is from Halifax, originally. However, due to the devestating Halifax Explosion of 1917, she is sent to live with her grandmother in the privileged English speaking part of Montreal.

I have Samantha and about half the outfits that go along with her. I loved that doll. Don't know if I'm going to watch the movie though cuz I'm going to be too busy at Ladies' Night.

I went to the American Girl Store in New York and Chicago. The stores were so awesome. Right now I have Addy, Molly and Felicity. I need to get Samantha and Kirsten and I have the original 5. I am so excited. I get a new one each year, starting at 18. I am excited. I can't wait for the movie tomorrow. I am going to get popcorn and watch it. Just kidding. *lol* But I am excited about the movie

I HAVE to interject here....
I work for Goodwill and we are co-sponsoring this movie with Tide and The WB. Here is all of the info...
PM me if you have any questions!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!
When The WB Network first broadcasts Samantha: An American Girl Holiday at 8 p.m. (EST) tonight and rebroadcasts it on November 25, viewers will also see prominent plugs to donate clothing to Goodwill Industries. The promotion is part of a nationwide coat and clothing drive that The WB Network and Tide are co-sponsoring in conjunction with the American Girl film. The 17-second ad -- which will run in the second hour of the program during the sixth commercial break -- welcomes viewers to donate to Goodwill by logging onto The WB web site. See the ad. On November 25, The WB will also air the “We Are Goodwill” spot during the film.

Oh I used to read these books all the time. Samantha was my favorite, followed by Molly. I never had the dolls though. Always wanted them for Christmas but my parents never broke down and bought them. But I remember looking, and wishing, through those catalogs for all the clothes and shoes and furniture.
Good times.
