Atheist to Challenge "In God We Trust" on currency
Posted November 13, 2005 at 11:00 p.m.
ELK GROVE (KRON) -- A Sacramento County man says he will file a federal lawsuit in the coming week demanding the U.S. Treasury remove the words "In God We Trust" from American currency.
Michael Newdow is the same man who led a legal effort to ban the recitation of the pledge of allegiance in public schools because of the phrase "under God."
Newdow says the words "In God We Trust" on currency is an unconstitutional endorsement of religion. He adds it, "excludes people who don't believe in God."

If you file a lawsuit and lose, you should pay the costs so tax payers aren't burdened with it. They do this in other countries and should seriously consider it here.

He - Mr. publicity lover - is assured of victory in the first round in the CA Court Dist.
As it moves up thru the courts, a lot of money will be made by the lawyers, but at the SC, with Alito replacing Sandra, the party is over.

Second that. Especially with medical malpractice. Charge the ambulance chasing lawyers also.

CASE CLOSED:
Briefs: Top court rejects appeal in 'In God We Trust' suit
The New York Times, The Associated Press
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2005
The Supreme Court on Monday avoided a dispute over the constitutionality of putting "In God We Trust" on government buildings.
The court did not comment in rejecting an appeal over an "In God We Trust" inscription on the Davidson County Government Center in Lexington, North Carolina.
The inscription, in 18-inch block letters, was paid for with donations from individuals and churches in 2002. It is more prominent than the name of the building, according to opponents. The lawsuit was filed by Charles Lambeth Jr. and Michael Lea, two lawyers who regularly practice in the center.
A panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit said that "In God We Trust" appears on the nation's coins and was made the national motto by Congress.
"In this situation, the reasonable observer must be deemed aware of the patriotic uses, both historical and present, of the phrase 'In God We Trust,"' the court said. (AP)

Thank goodness. At this rate, anything that depicts our history will be stripped. I am still fuming about the whole "under God" issue with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Is it possible to ship these lawsuit-happy, separation of state and religion fanatics to some deserted isle, and live in peace?? (I know, I know. I am goionog to get flamed for that. But I am over just what people sue over, not to mention the HUGE amount of my government money that has to go towards paying to defend these lawsuits.)
Off my soapbox, and going to bed....

Ok, I don't know why it won't post right, but you get the idea.
