Cute formal themes

As our chapters look for inspiration on the mixer/formal themes- I thought we could reminisce about some of our own??

As I was in the chapter in the late 80s we had a Punk Rock theme (not my favorite), a Generic Social (everyone came in black and white)... some of my favorite mixer themes were the Wedding Mixer and Famous Couples

What are some of your favorites?

We always had two "permanent" socials: a Christmas Semi-Formal that we held in our suite, and our Black Diamond Ball. We'd come up with a silly name for each year's holiday party (I can remember the infamous "Do It Your Elf" party, because we had close to nothing in the budget!), but the BDB was a major function.

Mixers that were fun were the ADPis, Guys, and Ties (a crush party), Nerds R Us (self-explanatory), and a philanthropy party that we did every year with the Phi Kaps. We & the Phi Kaps would take cokes, snacks, and treat bags to the local juvenile hall. The Phi Kaps would play basketball with the guys, and we would talk to the girls. It was interesting for all of us - and was VERY rewarding! Some of these girls would be 13 and pregnant, others just lost, and many would ask us all about college and school and how they really would like to get back on track. It was the one social I simply wouldn't have missed!!
