New Forums & Suggestions
A few weeks ago we added a new forum titled Alumni Involvement, suggested by greekchat.com member LXAAlum. Today we added two additional new forums: Community Service / Philanthropy (suggested by BFulton) & Locals (suggested by localsororities).
If anyone else has suggestions on new forums that we should consider adding to greekchat.com, please post your suggestions here.
Should we add general forums which are not directly related to fraternities/sororities such as: "Entertainment (movies, music, tv, print)", "Sex & Relationships", etc? Or should the forums stay *totally* focused on greek-issues?
All comments & suggestions are appreciated.

John, I would like to see "Entertainment" and "Sex and Relationships" as they pertain to Greek life. After all, there are many issues to discuss, such as how Greeks are portrayed in films and TV (usually negatively, as snobs or beer swilling horn dogs) and also Sex and Relationships and navigating a relationship in the small community of Greek life.
By the way, when are you going to get the Chat Room up and going? (hint! hint! hint! )

Please stick to Greek Related Topics.
Greekchat.com provides a resource to Greek Members, prospectives and others. To add topics on sex/relationships, and entertainment departs from the purpose of discussing our organizations. Also, Other forum boards exist that well cover those aspects. And Greek Life's forum seems to handle discussion regarding entertainment/relationships within the greek system.

PLEASE let us not go into the sex and relationships thing! People get off the subject and offensive enough without having to worry about this one!
I do think we should keep posting things that we see in movies, on TV, etc. that relates to greek life! In the past when they have shown greeks negatively, our sisters have sent letters to the networks along with our philanthropy facts, and other positive notes (such as our group being "dry" and rewarding sisters for service acts)!

I'm going to have to go with the majority on this one.. let's stick to Greek related topics. (For all the reasons listed above).
I think that sex, relationships, entertainment, and all kinds of other stuff get ample coverage amongst the Greek Life board, as well as others.

I think a Public Relations board may be a good idea--like, suggestions on how a chapter may deal with issues of public relations, and how the public perceieves the Greek system--ie, movies, magazine articles, etc.

I do like AlphaChi's idea.
I had another idea relating more to the posting and registration. In the profiles, having a catagory to list one's organization would be nice. For those that are not in a greek organization they could be listed as either prospective, or non-affliated (sp). This could also give rise to in the identifying block on each post to be listed as:
UserName
Organization
Senior/Junior/moderator/admin
ie mine would look like
Artimis
Alpha Sigma Kappa
Moderator
just an idea.

John,
I think the forums are good as is, sticking with greek-related issues. Seems like when other topics (such as sex, or relationships) is relevant, it's brought up anyway...and no one's shy about sharing!
One new heading I would like to see is a forum for GLOs that are larger than a local, yet are still growing into a national GLO.
From personal experience, there are a lot of issues that affect such GLOs, that most established and flourishing GLOs have already dealt with (in most cases, 50 or more years ago).
Some examples: maintaining uniformity between chapters, making the transition from a colony to a chapters, the logistics of expansion, the fluidity of chapter "traditions", making the decision whether or not to affiliate with an already established GLO....I could go on and on.

I also think it would be a really good idea to have a space on the profile for one's affiliation. Sometimes, I either forget, or would like to know, what someone's affiliation (if they have one at all) is, and the only way to go about this is to go through archives.

Leave it for only frat/sorority related stuff.
Also, as far as the chat room being taken over by greek language speakers, I say close the room down, get a new url and start it up again. I guess you could warn the greek speakers that you are shuting it down. But, the bottom line is that that chat room is for frat/soror related conversation and if these people need a greek language chat room, then they need to go to a website that offers that. I'm not trying to be rude BUT I find it rude that these people, knowing the original topic of the board, took it over for their private use. just my opinion.
ps
my other thought was to get a bunch of people to just jump on at the same time and take over the chatroom... I really would like to use it for it's intended purpose.

John, can you please give an update as to what you think you are going to do about the chatroom? Thanks.

I agree. Initially, It might help if there were some Fraternity/Sorority members in the chat room. I logged on the chatroom and got no response from anyone. The response I got were they were all from the country of Greece. That and it appeared as if some werent that respectful either...
