The only fraternity and sorority for which this is in writing - aka in the constitutions of the organizations - is Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. They are bound to each other as brother and sister. (one of the many things I've learned on Greek Chat! ) But that doesn't mean they HAVE to always hang out with each other, date each other etc.

For all the other orgs it will vary from campus to campus. At one school, the DZ's might always hang out with the LXA's...at another school, DZ might always do things with the AXP's. It's really just something that happens, and it doesn't mean you can't date anyone outside of those orgs (i.e., it's not like the T-Birds and Pink Ladies in "Grease.")

Don't pledge a sorority or fraternity because of who they hang out with...because this can change drastically from year to year!!

it kind of ends up like that, where a sorority chapter has a few favorite fraternities on that campus that they mix with more than the other frats... but it's mainly due to who the social chair is friends with, and who the sisters tend to date, rather than any formal thing...

this doesn't mean that a girl can't hang out with guys in a frat that is usually dominated by another sorority... most of my best guy friends are in a fraternity that my sorority doesn't have formal functions with... that doesn't mean i'm not welcome at their parties.

i know my sorority has a "brother fraternity"... but that frat has a chapter on my campus and we don't do anything social with them.

I was told by a former president of a sorority down here, that it usually depends on who the president is dating at the time. I kinda laughed, but it's true Last semester & a few before, ZTA & Sigma Chi were very social, but this semester it seems to be ZTA & the Sig Nus & Sig Eps. So I guess it's just up to chance
