What if your soror posed for Playboy?

Questioin: How would you ladies feel (a questions for all the sistas of the Fabulous Four) if your soror posed for Playboy. Now she doesn't mention the affiliation or anything in the magazine, but you know that she's an XYZ...either because she was in your chapter or by other means. Now she's not nationally known as XYZ, i.e National officer or celebrity, but you know she's your soror in XYZ. How would you feel?

I'd feel it's her PERSONAL choice. I may not agree, but she has to live with it, not me.

How would I feel if a soror wore a purple hat, with a green outfit and plaid shoes? I'd feel the same way. I wouldn't do it, but if she did...oh well.

How would I feel if a soror wore a swimsuit to work when it's 30 below? I wouldn't do it...but oh well.

I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this.

People are people long before they join XYZ organization. Although we may not agree with their actions, we must give everyone the freedom to do what they feel is good for them. In my opinion, no harm no foul since she did not mention said organization.

I have no problem with soror posing for any nude magazine as long as it is not sleazy. It's her choice.

I would imagine that there have been Sorors who have posed in the nude. Heck, there are members of all greek orgs that have done things like this and a whole heck of a lot worse.

The nude thing is a personal choice...and as long as the byline doesn't say "Susan Jones...Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha" or she doesn't have pink & green or lettered cloth draping over her nude body, then heck...it's a choice and I hope the sista got paid well for doing her thang.

Now, I'd take offense to a Soror going the porn route. I'm sure it's been done, but I would not want to know of a Soror doing a cut with Lexington Steele or Mandingo. (Not that I know anything about either of them....I've just heard from other people....)

I'm liberal... to a point.

I can go along with what others have said so far. As long as she is not posing with anything that obviously connects her with SGR then I am fine with it. It is her body, but OUR letters and I don't want them represented like that.

What if the member had a brand/tatoos of the sorority's letters, which clearly identified them as a member of XYZ sorority?

On another MB, when this question was brought up, some guy mentioned watching an porno and noticed one of the "participants" was a member of XYZ because she had sorority's letters tatooed on her body.

prayerfull,

interesting that you mention the porn-thing. one of the two "actors" you mentioned is in ABC frat (i knew him in undergrad). i was talking with someone who said they saw the person's brand on film of course, it may be different since it's a guy. now as for a woman, i had heard of a woman in XYZ sorority trying to pose for PLAYBOY. i do recalL folks not being pleased but i concur, as long as the letters and colors stay out of the pix, it's their business.

Soror and those who are reading,

i won't say which one but i will say, when i saw that he was in porn, courtesy of a cable documentary, i was not surprised in the least. he was "out there", my friends and i can attest to that. but you know/heard a bit more than i did. i never saw what made him a "star". i wasn't into him like that. but i know folks who were...

*snickering*

Ditto on as long as the letters/colors aren't involved.

I did tell y'all about the stripper who had gold sequin Greek letters on the shoulders of his outfit, didn't I? Same difference as far as I'm concerned. Totally inappropriate.

I agree that it is all a personal choice. I would pray that MY sorors would not make that choice, but people do things that other people would not agree with all the time.

For example I was at a party at 'Hardbodies' and there was this dancer and the dude had on a blue g-string and was twirling a blue and white cane. Since I am not a shy person, I went up to him and said, "You are NOT a Sigma are you?" Luckily he WASN'T, but he WAS in another BGLO frat. Yep, he was out there like that. I talked to people in his chapter and they did not seem to mind at all. But then again, it is different for guys.

Now that I think about it, I do not know if I would react so understanding if it was someone that I knew. There is nothing you can really do about it though.
