Lightbulb Who sings this?

Maybe this thread can be used for all of us that have a song in our head but have no idea who sings it.

So I just spent 30 minutes looking for who sings this...but the song goes something like this : "Amy, I'd like to sit with you for a while maybe longer if I do..."

something like that .... I hope someone can help me

Lonestar - "AMIE"

I can see why you think you belong to me
I never tried to make you think or make you see one thing for yourself
But now your off with someone else and I'm alone
You see I thought that I might keep you for my own

Amie, what you wanna do
I think I could stay with you
For a while maybe longer if I do

Don't you think the time was right for us to find
All the things we thought weren't proper could be right in time
And can't you see which way we should turn together or alone
I can never see what's right or what is wrong
Don't you take too long to tell me

Amie, what you wanna do
I think I could stay with you
For a while maybe longer if I do

Amie, what you wanna do
I think I could stay with you
For a while maybe longer if I do

Now just come to what you want you've had your way
And all the things you thought before just faded into gray
And you can say that I don't know if it's you or if it's me
If it's one of us I'm sure we both will see
Won't you look at me and tell me

Amie, what you wanna do
I think I could stay with you
For a while maybe longer if I do

Amie, what you wanna do
I think I could stay with you
For a while maybe longer if I do

Actually, the original was by the Pure Prairie League. I didn't even know that Lonestar had covered it.

[slight hijack] When my cousin was at Texas Tech, he took his girlfriend to the Kappa-Pi Phi formal. The place they had it was divided, with one side for the formal and the other side for a concert by Pure Prairie League. He said the formal people spent most of the night trying to peek around the wall to see the concert. [/slight hijack]

And the lead singer of that band? None other than Vince Gill!

That was one of our "theme songs"!!! There was an Amie in another sorority who tried to break up one of our sisters & her boyfriend, so we ALWAYS sang that song when we went out. Good times!!

When I was an Advisor, we had twins named Amie & Angie. Can you tell that their parents were into their 70's music?!
