Activists and GLOs

For a while, I've been involved with some left-leaning activist groups, and it's been surprising to see how much they have in common with GLOs.
Many people in both types of organization sincerely want to do the right thing and make the world a better place. For example, people in our groups have worked very hard to help Katrina victims, and it looks like many GLOs have as well. There's also a lot of other volunteer service from both sides.
Neither activist groups nor GLOs are free from drama or bickering over petty things. I genuinely like most of the people in these groups, and find a few annoying. Likewise, many Greekchatters seem to be genuinely nice people, though there are a few I wouldn't care to meet IRL. (OTOH, there are probably people who don't like me either, and that's OK.)
I guess that this illustrates that there's room for all kinds of people. I'm proud of the positive things that my groups have done. GLOs do some worthwhile philanthropy work, and I'm sure that they're proud of this as well.
