Sigma Nu has revoked the charter of its chapter at the University of Kansas:
http://www.kansan.com/stories/2005/sep/09/Sigma_nu/
Excerpt:
. . .Citing violations of the fraternity's laws, policies and principles, the Sigma Nu High Council has ended the local chapter's almost-121 year history at the University.
The national organization said that the chapter would be reestablished in "the near future."
"Sigma Nu Fraternity cannot tolerate these activities that defy the Fraternity's most basic values and principles," the fraternity said. . . .

I couldn't figure out when the hazing occurred? Anybody know?
Also saw this on the chapter's website:
"What about hazing?
First, we must define hazing. Hazing is requiring a candidate to do anything degrading or that has malicious intent on the candidate. Anything that an active wouldn't do himself is considered hazing. Flat out, Sigma Nu does not haze. We treat candidates like men -not boys. Sigma Nu Fraternity was founded solely against hazing, it is forbidden by Sigma Nu Law, and it has no place whatsoever in Sigma Nu. Enough of what we don't do."

The local city paper in Lawrence, Kansas, also has a "breaking news" story on this. No details as to what the Sigma Nu hazing was or when it occurred.

Kansas City Star Reported Today:
The Charter of SN, at the Campus of Kansas Un. is revoked.
Because of Hazing problems they are no longer on Campus by edict of IHQ. The Un. did not follow suit as they let SN IHQ handle the situation.
Now, when SN hopefully comes back soon, :None: of the current Members will be allow to be a part of the New Chapter.
This is sad for the Past/Current Active Members, but what can one expect?

I read that in the paper today also. It's ridiculous. It sounds like they were in hot water with the school anyway and this was probably the straw that broke the camel's back.

Sigma Nu at U. of Kansas May Appeal; Vandalism Also Reported
http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/se...le/?city_local
The Sept. 13 Lawrence, Kansas paper reports that the Sigma Nu chapter at KU may appeal its HQ's decision to revoke its charter. The article also reports several instances of vandalism at the fraternity house over the last few days -- damage to walls, toilets, furniture, and some items stolen. (The reports originated from the private security company that has been hired to check on the house after the charter was revoked. The men living in the house were given about 30 days to move out.)
