Nine minors were cited for alcohol offenses Friday night at a Linfield College fraternity party after police were called to deal with an 18-year-old partygoer suffering from alcohol poisoning.

Lt. Buz Sawyer identified the alcohol poisoning victim as Linfield student Rebecca Melanie Levy, 190 S.W. Brumback St., McMinnville. He said she was taken to the hospital by McMinnville Fire Department ambulance and released after undergoing treatment.

Cited for minor in possession of alcohol were Tyler Ray Boyd, Gerald Austin Haase and Cody D. Strickland, all 20-year-old Oregon State University students from Corvallis, and Travis John Warneke, a 20-year-old Linfield student, Sawyer said. Cited for facilitating consumption of alcohol by a minor were Linfield students Justin David Brandt, Logan Jaymes Gibbons, Harold Chadwick Klein and Alexander Joseph Thielman, all 20, and Jacob Richard Eagle, 19, he said.

The citations are all Class A misdemeanors. They carry a fine of $350 for the first conviction, $500 for the second and $1,000 for the third or subsequent.

Police were called to the Kappa Sigma fraternity house, 1045 S.E. Ford St., about 11:30 p.m. They were responding to a report of an intoxicated woman lying in the planting strip next to the driveway.

"Officers talked to numerous people, and were told she was attending a function at the fraternity," Sawyer said.

He said men attending the function brought their own alcohol to serve themselves and their female companions. He said campus security coordinated with police in handling the incident.
