JUST WANTED TO KNOW
MY SCHOOL HOSTS AN EVENT CALLED MEET THE GREEKS, EVERY YEAR. ALTHOUGH I HAVE BEEN TO AND KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN, SHOULD I GO AGAIN, BECAUSE I'M REALLY CONSIDERING RUSHING THIS YEAR. WOULD THIS BE HELPFUL TO GETTING MY FACE OUT AND ABOUT?

Yes!! Definitely!! It shows you are still interested. Plus, the "Meet The Greeks" event is often mandatory for rushees, so if you're even thinking about it, you should attend.

yes, you should go!! anything you can do pre-rush to show your face and let the actives see that you're interested (without being obnoxious) is a good tactic. the worst thing is for a girl to go into rush knowing nobody in the houses. just realize that they're paying close attention to how you behave at these events... the girls you meet might go back and report on you to their entire chapter, based on a 2 minute conversation!

Hi Thanks for your responses, I do have another question however. I went to Meet the Greeks and Introduced myself to some members of the sorority that I am interested in, although I didn't ask any questions, because I have done my research and know just about everything that I need to know. So do you think this is bad or not that I didn't ask any questions.

that's probably ok, just as long as you were able to keep a conversation going for a few minutes... if you can talk about things you have in common or people you both know, etc., i think that's just as impressive. during the later nights of rush, you might want to ask a couple questions (when they ask if you have any questions, never say no!)... and just remember, even if you already know the answer, you can still ask just so you don't look uninterested.
realize, the most important thing the sisters will take from these "rush conversations" is how well they clicked with you on a personal level--can they see themselves partying with you, living with you, etc. for the next several years? would you fit in well with the values & reputation of the existing group of girls? it is important that the rushees not be completely clueless about the sorority--at least remember what we tell you during the rush parties--but knowing a lot about the sorority won't help if the sisters just don't think you're fun.

hey babiegyrl
i'll be rushing next semester too, & thought i'd throw in my two cents i too did research about the sorority i'm interested in. i think one thing the girls were surprised about was that every once in a while i'd ask a fact i'd already know in the form of a question, ex: "isn't your mascot __?" that always shows them how interested i am. another thing is to inquire about certain events you may be able to go to such as dinners or open socials. just like the others said, be yourself!! i'm sure you can find someone to click with and they may turn out to be a great friend, whether you rush or not, i know i have. hope that helps.
much love
allison
