URGENT: To the Men of Omega Psi Phi
To the Men of Omega Psi Phi:
I came across this message on another listserv and thought I'd pass it along:
Quote:
***ALERT***
The Immediate Past Executive Director of the Southwestern Region, Brother Dr. Joseph Byrd is stranded in a Dormitory at Xavier University with approximately 400 students. One person has died. We need put pressure on the media to expose this situation so that these individuals can be rescued. Brother Byrd is Dean of Students at Xavier University and would most like die himself before sacrificing one of his students. Xavier University is a Catholic HBCU in New Orleans, LA. Flood the inboxes, light up the switch boards, or just genuinely be a incessed with the media until this situation is resolved.
From:
Brother Tophas Anderson III
Immediate Past Regional Vice President
Southwestern Region
Brothers,
We need your help to bring attention to the fact that Xavier Vice President Joseph Byrd is still holdup in a dormitory with approximately 400 persons waiting to be rescued. At least one person has died. Please call CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, AP or any other media outlet at your disposal to bring attention to this fact. The more calls the better. Please act now!!!
Thank you,
Tophas Anderson, III

Thanks for the heads up. Our org has recieved this request, but Dr. Byrd is not a member of our Organization. However, Omega has been very diligent in the relief efforts in N.O and Mississippi

LG -
I found that information on another message board. Not being a member of Omega, I had no way to verify it but under the circumstances, I figured "Better safe than sorry."
I re-posted it here and I also sent it to Omega National HQ. Obviously, they have had a chance to do the background checking and found that it was erroneous.

Thanks Greek.
I have seen this several times. Both Dr. Byrd and Mr. Anderson are members of APA.
They have been rescued and all students are safe.

No he isn't. One clue is that administratively, Omega is organized by Districts and not "regions"
