Sisters in LA, MS and AL

I'm worried about you! I know one of the members from the chapter at the University of New Orleans would post on here as well...I hope you all are doing okay and were able to get out. Please post here to let us know you are all okay!

And please let us know if any other AXiD chapters can do anything to help!! We could do some sort of nationwide drive for supplies, money, etc...

From what I heard, the chapters in AL are okay. UAB was without power for a while, but they are okay now.

UNO is another story. No one has been able to get in touch with anyone. We're hoping that everyone is okay and it's just a matter of communication cut-off....

I hope all those girls LEFT!!! I shocks me how many people stayed in a city where there are walls keeping out the water. Hopefully they had the resources to leave school and go home or farther away. I can't imagine the university will open up anytime soon.

They're safe!

From the National Website:

Concern and Support for All Affected by Hurricane Katrina
We have read the news articles and seen the footage of the terrible damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. The entire Alpha Xi Delta family offers our thoughts and prayers to all those who are struggling to deal with the devastating aftermath of this storm. We will continue to offer these as cities and individuals undertake the great effort of rebuilding their lives.

Alpha Xi Delta has chapters and alumnae associations in both Louisiana and Alabama. A member of Delta Epsilon Chapter has been reached and it appears that the members of the chapter are safe. Chapters and alumnae associations that may have been affected are:

Delta Epsilon Chapter, University of New Orleans
New Orleans Alumnae Association
Epsilon Pi Chapter, Jacksonville State University
Zeta Xi Chapter, Auburn University
Theta Phi Chapter, University of Alabama at Birmingham
Auburn-Opelika Alumnae Association
Birmingham Alumnae Association
Huntsville-Madison County Alumnae Association

At this time the most effective way to help in the recovery efforts is by providing support or donations to The American Red Cross and the Salvation Army, which are mobilized in these states to provide shelter, food, water, blankets and clothing to victims of this storm. You can donate online to either of these organizations at:

http://store.yahoo.com/redcross-donate/
http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/USNSAHome.htm

You might also check with agencies in your local area, including the American Red Cross, for volunteer opportunities targeted for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

I am from the Zeta Xi chapter at Auburn University. Three of my sisters are from LA. Two are from New Orleans and our president is from Slydell (spelling?). I don't want to go into too much detail on here because it is not my place to do so. BUT all three girls families are alive and well. Some members of their families are still in N.O. but they are alive. One girls house is flooded and the other has water damage to it. They are ok, but dealing with all of this as any other person would. That's all I am going to post for that, but feel free to PM me. All of us here hope that Alpha Xi's everywhere else are safe and ok.

Hi - I am an alum of the Delta Epsilon Chapter at UNO but am still friends with all the girls. Everyone got out of New Orleans is fine. School will not be back until January. Rush was suppose to start on the 12th but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Right now everyone is kinda of spread out. Girls from out of town ended up going home though I don't know if it is permantly. If you have any specific questions I might be able to answer them as I talk to the president of the chapter daily.
