Consumer Complaints?

Has anyone ever complained about a product by writing a letter or reporting it through the company's website?

Yes! I submitted a complaint to Clinique a few weeks ago on their website. They not only refunded me for the price of the product, they also sent me some free makeup in the mail. Needless to say, I was very happy with the way they treated me and handled my problem, and I will continue to buy Clinique makeup.

You know, I tried to submit a complaint to Loreal about some makeup I bought from them that was just horrible...I spent an hour on their website and I could not find anywhere to send my complaint at all. I'm never buying anything from Loreal again!

I had the same problem with Loreal. I think I ended up finding a number on the package and even then the company did nothing to make me what to purchase from them again.

Here's the situation.

I was working on dinner (meatloaf) and poured the breadcrumbs into the bowl. I'm getting ready to start mixing everything together, when I notice this tiny little speck of blue. Well, I look closer, and realize it's something in the breadcrumbs. I pick it out, and it looks like it's a small piece of broken plastic.

So, now I'm all paranoid that there's pieces of plastic in my meatloaf. The breadcrumb manufacturer does not have a website, but I'm thinking of writing a letter. It's only a couple of dollars, but I guess it's the principal of the thing.

I had a box of Kellogg's Raisin Bran with raisins that were (literally) as hard as little rocks. It was disgusting and inedible (not to mention I almost broke a tooth)... I wrote an email to Kellogg's via their website, and I told them that I normally like Kellogg's products and I was very disappointed. They sent me an apology and a coupon for a free box of cereal. I'm not going to tempt fate and buy Raisin Bran, tho. I think I'll go with a nice, safe box of Frosted Mini Wheats.

So I'd say, write to the company. It can't hurt - and blue plastic in bread crumbs is unacceptable! (I also find meatloaf unacceptable, but that is a whole other can of breadcrumbs). Of course, your other option is returning the breadcrumbs to the store where you bought them... Especially if you are a regular customer at the store!

I sent a letter to the CEO of Burger King after dissatisfaction a few weeks ago. He replied and forwarded it on to the NC Area director. I expect to get a few free Whoppers out of this.

I complained to Coke once when there was a cockroach in my sealed bottle of Diet Coke. They sent me coupons for free Diet Coke, but I never used them. I hardly ever drink anything made by Coke now.

DO NOT USE TV DOCTOR!!!!

Yes. I even went to Action 9 and nothing was done - so to say the least - Never use TV Doctor to repair anything. They stole a piece off of my big screen TV.

When I first moved into my house my big screen TV (4 yrs old) started having "double vision". My hubby called "TV Doctor". They charged $99 to diagnose the TV, and said that the conversion was broken. I called my husband up @ work & let the repairman explain the situation to him. He said it would cost 580.00 to fix. OK. Expensive, but considering what I paid for it, we were like ok. The guy took the part with him, calls me back and says he looked up the wrong piece - it would really cost over $800.00 to fix it. Needless to say, I was like nope. Bring it back.

OK - a little history here - I was very pregnant, on bedrest, & sick everyday - all day. The guy did not give me a work order/ receipt - & I'm thinking my cleared chk should be proof enough - right? WRONG. After I got out of the hospital & recovered form a C-Section, we started back pursuing TV Doc who never brought the piece back.

Long story short: The guy denies taking the piece out of my TV. I have a gaping hole in the back of my TV, and the owner of the company says there's nothing he can do about it (basically calling me a liar - a big no-no in customer service). At first, they said they didn't see a work order on file, then after I said I had a cleared check, they said they found a quote for over $800.00, but that as a policy, they never repair pieces or remove them from homes. They bring the finished product in. I asked for a copy of the order - haven't seen it yet - therefore - it was bogus (Considering there should be a space for customer siggy - right?) Action 9 sent me letter this week advising me to contact the BBB.

Moral - always get a work order. I usually do, but I think given my state of mind - I wasn't thinking clearly. AND I called another place - to fully replace the piece is around 500.00. That's fine, I would've paid that anyway given the original quote, but it's the principal of the matter. I'm thinking about starting a website: www.tvdoctorsucks.com. But first, I will contact the BBB.

I have often written letters of complaint, and most have been met with coupons or other forms of reimbursement. Just Wednesday, we sent out for lunch, and the order was terribly messed up - today, the manager brought us a gift certificate, along with a goodie basket of muffins!

On the other hand, when I order something on the telephone and have a very cooperative catalog representative, I'll ask them to put me through to their manager, so I can tell the manager how nice ___ was. I feel that, if I want to maintain the ability to complain, I should also compliment a company when I can!

I once complained about the terrible service I received at a local restaurant in Long Beach called Parkers Lighthouse. The waitress brought us our drinks AFTER our food was served (we didn't even get water beforehand). She then never came back. We had to flag down another waitress to bring us the bread that they normally serve prior to your meal. When she finally came back, I decided to order their creme brulee & she got really pissy about it. Another waiter brought out the dessert as well as the check. I demanded to see the manager & really complained. We got our meal for free but I woulod still not eat there again.

Not a product, but a service (or lack thereof): The Ritz-Carlton, Boston.

My husband (then-fiance) and I were attending the wedding of two friends of ours.

The Ritz-Carlton has always been very careful about not serving anyone who is underage. (This is not a bad thing.) So they were carding everyone in sight. Waiters walking around with trays of champagne flutes during the cocktail hour wouldn't let you take one without seeing ID.

When we were seated for dinner, the bride and groom's college friends (including us) were seated at two tables. Champagne was poured for everyone EXCEPT those of us at these two tables. They didn't even bother to card us, they just assumed we were all underage. So my husband called someone over and asked for some champagne. The waiter asked him for ID, examined it carefully, took it over to the bartender, had him examine it, then brought it back, poured him some champagne, AND LEFT. I called him back and told him I'd like some champagne too. The operation was repeated with my ID. We both had perfectly valid, in-state, Massachusetts driver's licenses at the time. Only then did waiters approach both tables, offering champagne and carding each and every person who said yes.

The maid of honor (who was underage) had to offer her toast to the bride and groom with an empty glass.

Plus, the waiters were just rude throughout. I think they were annoyed that they couldn't refuse to serve us.

I wrote a scathing letter of complaint, detailing what happened and adding that I was a bride planning my own wedding and I would NOT be booking it at the Ritz-Carlton. You could take paint off cars with what I wrote. I got an apologetic response indicating that the staff had been spoken to. Nonetheless, I haven't so much as set foot there since.
