Angry Poor Puppy: What's wrong with people?

Wanted: Whoever left two puppies to die

BY DIANE MCCARTNEY

The Wichita Eagle

Rewards are being offered in two animal cruelty cases -- separate cases in which puppies were left to die in a north Wichita recycling bin and in a downtown apartment building.

In the first case, a black mixed-breed puppy was found Aug. 1 in a recycling bin at Earhart Environmental Magnet Elementary School, 4401 Arkansas.

The puppy, 10 to 12 weeks old, had cuts, chemical burns and a broken leg. Its front legs had been wired together and wrapped around its head and neck, with one paw inserted in its mouth, limiting breathing, the city said in a news release.

I can't even describe how angry it makes me that someone would do that to an animal. I hope it comes back on them and they get their just reward.

That's so sad. I can't believe there are people in the world who would do this.

I could never understand what would make someone do something so cruel. If he didn't want them then he should have given them away.

The sad thing is that these types of cases are not that uncommon. People are just stupid sometimes. It makes me sad.

That is so terrible

There were also local reports in north texas about another animal cruelty case.

The 2 dogs both had their front/hind legs bound together and their mouths were ductaped closed. This prevented the dogs from panting to keep cool in the sun. A couple of passerbys found them and called police. The animal shelter folks said if they were not found, the dogs would not have made it through the night.

Ok, we need a nice story to counter act this one. I'll try to keep it brief...

As I was driving home from work the other day, there was a huge freeway tie up and on the traffic reports they were saying it was due to a car/animal accident. The next day at work, a co-worker of mine told me the whole story (It was all cleared by the time I got to that point).

She was driving home during rush hour and saw a dog running around on the freeway, darting in and out of cars. Cars were all slowing down, trying to avoid the poor lil gal. She pulled over and was trying to get the dog, a greyhound, to come to her. Several others also pulled over, including a couple guys on Harleys, an off duty police officer and another woman, who happened to have a can of Alpo in her car. One of the Harley guys had a can opener so they tried to lure the dog out of traffic with the dog food. It didn't work though. The dog kept running in and out of traffic. Eventually, it ran under a semi and was hit, injuring one of it's legs. They managed to stop traffic across all 3 lanes while this dog continued to run around on 3 legs. They finally got it to calm down and it laid down with it's head in my co-worker's lap. The bad part was, they were in the center lane of the freeway. Finally, a city officer showed up about the same time the owner of the dog showed up. They were able to get the dog to safety and the police officer escorted the owner to an emergency vet clinic.

So, there are a whole lot of good people out there, who do love "man's best friend" and will do anything to try to help

Dee

That is horrible. I hope the people who did that to the puppies rot in hell. Now I'm sitting here at work and want to cry. I'm going to hug Barney a little tighter when I get home.

My sister's dog was brought to the St. Louis Humane Society as an abused stray...he had broken ribs and still has several BBs lodged in him from being shot at close range with a BB gun. She adopted him about five years ago and he is doing well, although he does have some serious baggage and issues with strangers.

This pisses me off so much. What kind of coward tortures an innocent animal?!?!? If there is a Hell these people are headed there...
