Visiting other Chapters

Hi all,

I thought JocelynC had a great idea when she posted on another thread about chapters besides your own that you have visited. I hope you don't mind Jocelyn, but I think it would be great to start here...who knows maybe we can get some roadtrips up and going!

I have only been to Moravian College (PA) to pick up a leadership consultant. It was the first house I ever saw in person and I thought it was beautiful..groups with houses are so lucky.

As for ones I want to visit...Um.....THEM ALL!

And for those of you who did visit chapters..how did it go? Did you have to call first? Were the girls receptive and welcoming? Anyone stay overnight? (Talk about an awesome sleepover!!)

Sigma xoxo!
Jessica

We've had Eta Iota (Defiance College) visit us recently and we'd LOVE to have more! Seriously, if you're in the Kent area and you wanna stop by and say hi, just PM me and I'll get you our president's contact info.

When Defiance visited, they were just kind of passing through. They had e-mail our president a few days before and she said we'd love to have them. But yes, it's customary to call or e-mail in advance just to make sure that chapter doesn't have something super important going on that day.

When I was at Sam Houston State University I visited the St. Mary's Chapter in San Antonio.

Since I cant find any information on the North Carolina chapters I am looking into I guess i will just havet o visit them pretty soon as well.

Which brings up a question not entirely off topic...When you dotn have any information for a chapter how do you plan a visit? I have no idea who to contact in the UNC wilmington chapter because there is no information for them on their schools Panhellenic site. Just curious how to go about finding more information about them. I probably wont visit until the beginning of next semester, but it would be nice to know.

One of my sisters recently visited Delta Delta at UNC Chapel Hill. She said the girls were very nice and that thier house was gorgeous!!! my chapter is actually trying to get some of us together to plan a road trip to one or two of the NC chapters. We will hopefully be visiting the new colony in Savannah soon too!!!!!

I'm from the Zeta Chi chapter in Myrtle Beach and last fall we went up to the hospital and Chapel Hill for the weekend. The night we got into town we were just driving around campus and happened to find the Sigma house. I'm not sure if anyone had tried to contact them before we went, but we just went up to knock to say hi for the heck of it and ended up staying there for probably an hour or two. Totally awesome house and super nice girls, the few that were there. Although any house is awesome to me because we don't have one.

In the spring there were a couple girls down here from the New York area for break who came out with us a few nights. Always fun to meet other Sigmas

I'm hoping we do our chapter retreat @ Walton Houe in the spring. I'd really like to visit Alpha chapter and see a memorial they have to the 4 sororities that were founded there.

Note: For those that don't know Alpha Sigma Alpha, Kappa Delta. and ZTA were founded at Longwood as well.

I'd like to get out to Defiance since they visited us before.

I want to visit Penn State (Beta Upsilon) since there's also a chapter of Kappa Phi there and I could visit both while I'm there.

I'd like to visit Delta Beta @ Elon because they have something like 200 girls and seeing 200 Sigmas would be amazing.

I would love to visit other chapters. There are 2 other chapters here in Michigan, so it wouldn't be too hard. I wouldn't mind taking a road trip to somewhere within a 6 hour drive from Detroit either. I think it would be so much fun getting together with other sisters and talking about their experiences in Sigma, as well as other things!
